Yes GL I understand the history and the impact of the programs (it happens to be one of the areas of my education) I simply brought up what I did about FDR as a way of correcting some of the misinformation. I was not arguing with you. I was simply stating facts.
I actually looked up your first nickname and the threads you started. I had a tough time weeding through them all to find the threads you started with the topics you are talking about. Maybe you should go back and check them. I think you will find, when these topics have come up, I'm one who will typically jump in to the discussion. I don't quite get the idea of how matriarchy can be mitigated if it doesn't exist.
I understand . its cool that people can have real references and not pulling shit out there asses. I was just putting them up as how I came up with it and what more astute black people say.
Here's some posts I made. I stand corrected a couple of brothers got into a good convo http://www.whitewomenblackmen.com/forum/showpost.php?p=933436&postcount=131 http://www.whitewomenblackmen.com/forum/showthread.php?p=609282&highlight=Motion#post609282 http://www.whitewomenblackmen.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27094&highlight=Father
Um yah and I was in there too. :smt101 I was looking specifically for all these threads you said you started. One of those you started (and I spoke up in it). I have stated repeatedly in threads (complete with links to stats - blackdemographics.com is one) that we all need to stop going by the media hyped up bullshit and look to the facts. All the hyped garbage is about the minority of Black men, not the Majority. Of course people can (and should) do better.
The guys are identifying it as women being head of the households. (You and I know the definition is incomplete but let's roll with that.)
Well actually, in checking dictionary.com matriarch noun 1. the female head of a family or tribal line. 2. a woman who is the founder or dominant member of a community or group. 3. a venerable old woman. British Dictionary matriarch /?me?tr????k/ noun 1. a woman who dominates an organization, community, etc 2. the female head of a tribe or family, esp in a matriarchy 3. a very old or venerable woman And just in case: venerable adjective 1. commanding respect because of great age or impressive dignity; worthy of veneration or reverence, as because of high office or noble character: a venerable member of Congress. 2. a title for someone proclaimed by the Roman Catholic Church to have attained the first degree of sanctity or of an Anglican archdeacon. 3. (of places, buildings, etc.) hallowed by religious, historic, or other lofty associations: the venerable halls of the abbey. 4. impressive or interesting because of age, antique appearance, etc.: a venerable oak tree. 5. extremely old or obsolete; ancient: a venerable automobile.
I know. When I gave the definition of patriarch to this forum one of the dudes ,who always screaming for it, shitted in their pants. They didn't know what it really involved
But GL...if they are saying it's a Matriarch because the women are head of household, they are right. That's why I posted the definitions.
I'm not saying they are totally wrong but mc and I are also saying they have to be in charge of the community too. But like I stated I'm going to stick with the hh part of the definition
Oh but I do agree with you in that in order for it to be a matriarchy it should satisfy the definition of the home and community. So yeah I agree its hard to say its a matriarchy . I think I get what you rte saying right? I know I sound like I'm straddling the fence...... I would love for the guys who scream matriarch/patriarch come in and explain themselves
