There's no need for debate. I see your point. And I agree with it. All I meant is that even bigots are humans loved by God. I don't think the comment about Uncle Fred was artfully stated, but I do think I accurately stated why she wrote as she did (or rather, why a Christian in her position would write such a thing). You're obviously free to not like her statements or mine.
I agree. However, I submit that you can try lovingly to reach someone without coddling their fragility. Whether and how he'll respond is on him. Hey, if nothing else, I think we've all seen that letting their hatred lead to our anger rarely solves anything.
Agreed! If Uncle Fred manages to come around... Great, but in the meantime... he needs to be called out on the crap. Right! I've seen it (especially with my relatives in the south) where folks would get a pass for a number of reasons, especially being older. I get that some older folks may be set in their ways, but nothing wrong with addressing their racism.
