purpose of dating? Depend if it's first dates or regular dating... For those who are saying "it's to find a long-term partner", you mean you don't date your partner? ... so it depends on what kinda dating you're talkin
Im too tired to read through 17 pages to see if this has already been said so here goes... I think the purpose of dating changes throughout our lives. In middle school and high school I think it was more just a social thing. Someone to hang out with, do things with and test the waters of the opposite sex. After my marriage, my purpose in dating was solely to get out and enjoy myself, meeting new people. As I get older, I'm becoming more and more introverted so dating was my way of trying to stay connected with man kind lol. I had no intention of a serious relationship, all I wanted was super casual, drama free dates. Then I met my guy and from that first day...he was just different. We dated with the hopes of something long term, something I had avoided at all cost after my marriage ended. I think where we are in life determines our purpose in everything we do, including dating.
Sweet Jesus I hope I never have to do it again. I'm extremely happy in my relationship but if things don't work out I'm not going back into that vapid shark tank again. Life is too damn short. The only possibility would be if I end up moving to Canada where the humans are just plain better all around.
Once I've made a commitment, I don't think of it as "dating". I realize that people are always dating in a way - even married people go on dates. I just don't look at it that way though. Just like any level of a relationship is a "relationship". I don't consider it a relationship unless we have a commitment.
