Is Illegal Immigration a Threat to the U.S.?

Anyone here believe that this uncontrolled illegal immgration into the United States is a threat to the country. I was visiting relatives recently in a large American city and I sense a fear on the part of many who feel that their communities are being taken over by mexicans. There is also a fear of the increase in latino gangs in which many of it's members are in this country illegally. Is this being racist or fear mongering? I bring this up because it appears that blacks in particular are being pushed out of the job market, especially black youth in the entry level jobs by illegal immigrants. I think this is unfair to those legal immigrants who should be in the front of the line. There is much friction between blacks and mexicans from the prisons to the streets of America. I know white illegal immigration is also a problem that is never reported of the Russians, eastern Europeans and other third world countries from the Middle East, but is this a problem that need to be somehow fixed if it can ever be now or will the country become a balkanized nation that will someday split apart. Just curious what you folks think about this sensitive subject.

As far as what "their" government rules are regarding immigration.... isn't the Mexican government one of the (many) reasons Mexicans immigrate here?

I'm not saying we can do totally open immigration. Nor am I saying that illegal immigration isn't having a cultural impact on our country. But I don't think there's a moral analogy that can be made here that justifies blocking immigration. Either we can do it or we can't do it, but I don't think there's much of an argument to say that we shouldn't.

Since most of our foreign terrorists come from Saudia Arabia, should we treat them the way Saudia Arabia would?

I think there's something to be said for holding ourselves to a higher standard.

 

Maybe it's just me..but I don't want to see this Country turn into a sweat shop.

I don't like the idea that Mexico's elite can dump 20% of it's population onto the laps of american taxpayers.

I don't like the idea that Corporate America controls our government to the point that IMMIGRATION POLICY COMES FROM WALL STREET.

As i've repeatedly stated on this site, this issue is one of the few in which i tend to side with right-wingers. Illegal immigration, for what it's worth, is taking a toll on the American economy. I live in a state with many of them from various nations so I know. Or worse, take a look at California. They're so broke that even pro-business Republicans are willingly casting votes to raise taxes to generate some revenue. The healthcare system in California is unsustainable as they have to cover people who shouldn't even be in the country to begin with.

I really do not want to go into the facts and figures of illegal immigration right now - i'm sure you guys can do so yourselves - but whilst most illegal immigrants are law-abiding, hardworking people who are simply victims of their circumstances, there can be no denying the strain it is causing on the American people and economy.

The reason why California is experiencing a budget shortfall is because we raised the level of public spending during the booming 90s' when the state was flush with revenues from capital gains taxes. Now that the entire nation is in a bust cycle, multiple states are staring at budget gaps by virtue of lower tax revenues; forty-seven if you'd care for a number.

Illegal immigration is cold-cocking white america..you can imagine what it's doing to us.

 

That large American city that I visited recently was Baltimore, Maryland. The tension between the growing Latino population and the black majority population in that city is a cause for concern. I believe what we are seeing is a growing trend toward something much bigger in this economic downturn as jobs become scarce for those at the bottom of the economic ladder, poor blacks and hispanics who are here looking for work. As more illegals take the jobs the former Mexican President Viscente Fox (hope I spelled his name right) said that mexicans who come to this country do the jobs that even blacks will not do, then I think that a growing rife will exist between blacks and hispanics. I fear that a race riot or war will be in our future in this country someday. I hope not. After the incident that happened in Los Angeles last year in which a black kid was killed by an illegal because he was thought to be a rival gang member, the group of black youths in Newark being targeted and killed last year by illegals, and the rumors I'm hearing of blacks being targeted and killed across the country by illegals mainly from gang activity taking over territores I can only wonder when the fuse will be lit that will ignite the racial war between hispanics and blacks that I fear will be coming.

I guess while hispanics and blacks kill each other, the ruling classes will continue to rule the country, make their money and play the game of divide and conquer. A Japanese prime minister once said that America will decline and become a third world nation because of the blacks and hispanics. I have long suspected the ruling classes sees hispanics and blacks as pawns to be used in order to continue their own power. If they can find a justification for the final solution when the inferiors are no longer needed, they will I bet.

 

It's unfortunate, because much of the conflict between African Americans and Hispanics comes as the result of propaganda and resource leveraging from an entitled class of white people.

We're supposed to be aghast that hispanic gangs and black gangs conflict. Because I suppose that's not what gangs do. We're supposed to be shocked (*shocked*) that many Latin American countries are still affected by years of institutionalized racism strikingly similar to our own. We're supposed to buy that this non ruling group will somehow be a greater obstacle or problem for Black people than entitled white people.

It is absolutely ridiculous to look at the absolute certainty of hispanic majority in the future of this country and argue against it. Let's argue against the sun coming up in the morning, too.

Demonizing immigrants does not encourage assimilation. Alienating immigrants does not inhibit their loyalty to past traditions. The history of this country shows very clearly that if you do not like parts of the immigrant culture, the easiest thing to do is to offer assimilation into the mainstream in return for the abandonment of those parts of the culture least acceptable to the mainstream.

This however, will not be done. Those with the greatest influence find it easier to offer a little bit of assimilation -- and the corresponding entitlement -- to each group in return for assisting in the oppression of the other.

I am NOT saying I don't see problems, including racism, existing in some Hispanic groups. I AM saying that these problems will get worse while white people work to convince Hispanic people that Black people are scary and Black people that Hispanics are racist.

If that effort is successful enough, neither group will be able to do much about the fact that they are both being harassed by the police, receiving unequal education, being discriminated against at work, and kept scrambling for the same small crumbs of the cake.

 

It wasn't white people who "brainwashed" me into cognizance of the negative attitudes that many Latinos (especially Mexican immigrants) harbor towards blacks. It was all of the first hand experience that I gained living around a surfeit of them for almost two decades in Texas. Antipathy towards dark skinned people is so deeply ingrained into their culture to the point where you see Latinos who obviously have indigenous or African ancestry claiming to be "pure Spanish."

 

Because white people, asian people, jewish people and arab people never act like that. It's completely different from all the other people in this country.

 

Nice non-sequitur. I simply addressed your insinuation that most of the friction between blacks and Latinos in this country stems from the instigation of affluent white Americans.
