You think he knowlingly lied to the UN to start a war and you consider that honorable? I think it is more likely that he, like Bush, the UN, the UK and others, believed credible intel sources that reported Iraq had WMD, which as we all know, they did have at one point.
Like I mentioned in a previous thread: there’s a lotta black folks today who had they been around back in the mid 1800’s would have been strongly in favor of the Supreme Court and the Dred Scott decision. Since there is a lack of manhood in the Republican Party, Cheney is doing his part to energize manhood again back into the GOP. It appears a lot of those Republicans are too damn scared to stand up and say what they believe in, instead, they wasted their tenures in office and ran up this economic mess they left us in. Speaking as a liberal, that's not a nightmare it's a dream come true. It would be cast as good versus evil. You yourself point to the name he's known as: Darth Vader. He shot. his friend. in the face. Obama'd win his second term in a landslide (which he will probably anyway), and we'd get to enjoy some great material for political comics. I can't think of a better gift to liberals than running Cheney in 2012.

As you said it would make great political theatre. Cheney would not pull punches. Most liberals would cringe though, IMO.

I don't think Cheney is trying to run for elected office, nonetheless he is such a staunch neo-con and more importantly, is worried that there could be repercussions for all his actions that he's mounting a one-man crusade in his own defense. I genuinely believe he thinks the Obama administration could be coming after him. Afterall, he's now a private citizen and can be arrested without much hassle or citations of "executive privilege" or even creating a fourth branch of government outside the legislative and executive like he did in 2007.
Interesting theory, but I honestly don't think Cheney gives a fuck. I think that is one reason he was so powerful as VP. He had no political aspirations, didn't care what the oppositon thought of him, what the press thought of him, etc. I think he is the same way now. If he was worried about being convicted I would think he would either keep a low profile or stroke Obama's ego.
If Dick Cheney REALLY didnt give a fuck, then he'd be as quiet as a church mouse now that he's a civilian.
