I had a heated discussion today over some of President Obama's policies with co-workers and was warned by some of the brothers to not be critical of Obama's policies and that I was showing signs of being a sellout. Anyone else here is feeling the heat of being critical of President Obama's policies and how he is performing in his job? Just because he is black (bi-racial) does not mean I cannot voice my opinion of things I do not agree on. What is happening with freedom of speech and thought in this country?
I don't know what's happening, but just because your black shouldn't mean you can't object or disagree with some of the president's views or policies. That doesn't make a person a sellout, free independent thinking in IMHO is ok
If that's the case, and it just may be, I would cease to have future 'heated political discussions' with them, because clearly they are not mature enough to such talks. ;-)
I can't say that I've been attacked for being critical of Obama. I've had many a conversation regarding my frustration about the unwillingness (or inability) of the Obama administration and the majority of the Congressional Democrats to effectively rebut the barrage of factual bereft attacks from the right that they are subjected to on every issue and the administration's unwavering call for bi-partisanship in spite of the fact that it's been clear since Obama took office that the Republicans are only interested in using any Democratic position to launch baseless partisan attacks. I know several Progressives who are just as infuriated as I am the administration appears to be ignoring many of the people who worked tirelessly to put Obama in office. It's absurd and dangerous to make the claim any politician cannot be criticized. However, invoking the first amendment and insinuating that there is an issue with free speech in this country at present because of a water cooler argument is a disingenuous exercise in hyperbole. When a government official arrests you for criticizing the President, get back to me about the first amendment. I remember several people telling me that it was inappropriate and "unpatriotic" to criticize Bush no matter how incompetent he appeared to be or how badly his administration faltered, so this phenomenon isn't anything new.

Hey, I love the guy from afar, outsdie the US he is arguably the most popular president since JFK, I even have a t-shirt I bought stateside with a picture of MLK, the caption underneath reads, "I have a dream", and in the dreamcloud, a picture of Obama. But don't CRITICISE him? Obama himself would tell you not to give that advice.
you should stand up for what you believe and dont let peer pressure or bullying control your life and your views. those people are weak minded and scared that having views other than the group think, will destroy their little world. you can like the man and totally disagree with his policies. you can dislike him personally and like his policies, or like me you can not like him or his policies. no of this has anything to do with his race. voiting for him and not being criticial of his policies are MORE RACIST than opposing them on policy grounds

just stand up for what you believe in, if it is critical of the President, thats the point of Democracy, he is not god or king! i dont like him or his policies, so i am happily highly critical of the guy
sure i dont like his policy of universal healthcare--i dont believe that taxpayers should pay for the healthcare of others, except the poorest, the elderly and children. i dont like his policy of appeasing Iran, Venezuela or Russia I dont like his policies on abortion, on trying to tear down the Defense of Marriage Act, on trying to control the media and free speech with a Czar who praises Chavez for nationalizing the media. dont like policies of increasing taxes on the middle class and wealthy to pay for social programs I dont like his policies on bailouts for the auto industry, i dont support the public education system that doesnt want stronger checks on what is being taught, on teachers performance and student acheivements, or the run amok power of the teachers union. i dont like his stance on labor and thinking we should change capitalism to work more like old Europe. dont support his policies on global warming and taxing americans to pay for his green initiatives. spending and driving up the deficit. his thwarting of democracy to fit some new world order agenda or his stance to appease the muslim world while at the same time working to muffle the voice of the christians here at home. those are my positions against him not here to debate them just to answer your question, as this is not the topic
Well, since you don't want a debate, I will just respond with some further data and facts that you may want to review as they may give you reason to re-visit your current positions. Just so you know, and before you accuse me of being an "Obama true believer", I am a registered republican and a founding member of a republican PAC, something that I am very proud of. I am able however, to take a NON-PARTISAN view of the job Obama is doing to date, and I must say while I cannot agree with everything he has/is doing, he has accomplished a great deal(in a very short time) that is making this country better/stronger/ more forward thinking. Tucker, I hope you take fact checking a lot more serious in the future if you want to be taken seriously in a political conversation/debate.
