A lot more than a lot of these women. If this is the litmus test for adult debates no wonder it takes forever to get shit done in congress

i don't know how far you went back in the thread but the debate with andrae went in circles for a bit...basically it came down to dollars and cents for him if a woman got pregnant and chose to have a baby...he was arguing that he wanted power over the situation and that it wasn't fair if he has to pay child support for a baby he didn't want...since it is really difficult to explain to a man why a woman would make a decision for her own body...the closest spin i could come up with is if a woman asked a man to have a vasectomy it would hold the same type of power/control as a man wanting a woman to abort

as long as you responded though, when a couple divorces and assets are split more than likely they are not living the life they have come to know...just a little fyi

There are women who pay child support so you should have gone that route. I agree with you though. I am still trying to read through this long thread. I believe there are prenutial agreements as well for the last section of your statement.

I never said I couldn't understand making a decision about my body but there are extremely rare choices in my life where what I choose affects any other life outside of my own. You're decision on your body affects three and my simple question is why should it. You can demand fairness in some places but expect dominion in others

we tried that angle too archangel...i may be paying child support myself if my son goes to live with his dad now that he is in high school...it's the law...no way around it...it is the society we live in today...i am a parent and as a parent you make sacrifices...he has always come first...his needs before mine and many times his wants before my needs...

The only person's behavior you can control is your own. That being said, you feel very strongly about not getting railroaded into paying for a child you never wanted.

    That's cool.

And I'll continue to repeat what I've said now about 10 times in this thread. You have 2 options for controlling your ability to have an unwanted pregnancy:

    1. Abstain from sex until you want to have kids.

    or

    2. Get a vasectomy and have as much sex as you want with as many women as you want and not have to worry about an unwanted pregnancy.

Then you leave the choice in having a child completely in your hands and the cost of a vasectomy pales in comparison to child support payments over 18 years, and is completely reversible. So, everyone wins in that scenario, right?

Its fine to have that point of view Andrae - (your mudslinging was not nessesary and completey uncalled for. People arent incoherent because they dissagree with you) but if you do have that opinion:
Have this discussion up front (I do it religiously),
if she does not agree with you of the outcome of an accidental pregnancy... for god sake, dont sleep with her.

Your vasectomy arguement is a mess. Most people that don't ask their spouse to get the procedure. They do it themselves. This was a poor choice in example. I think bookworm had the best information. Get fixed and have sex as often as you want. Get it reversered when you want to have a kid. You escape pregnancy on both sides.

    Or...

    3. Have as much sex as you like with a woman who can't have children, and adopt when you're ready. (sorry Andrae, I couldn't resist)

    ;)

LMAO Lippy! It's actually generally considered a really unattractive quality in a single woman, even to men who already have children. Nothing I can do about it, so I figure might as well spin it as a plus to the sweet guys who don't view me as broken. You know the ole turning lemons into lemonade approach. :smt043

    Thanks babe, thanks

I do agree with him that is unfair (but it is really unfair for all involved, not only the man) and most of all the baby that didnt ask to be born. The issue is so much larger that just about the unwanted economical responsibility.

... the problem is that there is no fair answer in this dillemma.... so the best way to avoid it is to not get there in the first place. The risks will always be there regardless how careful you are. This HAS to be discussed before sex is even taking place. That is when the decission is being made.

back to my suggestion about a legally binding document, maybe Andrae should lobby that - I would sign such an agreement.

it would appear that is not the case espy...for a man that doesn't want children you are a dream...no wrapper...no babies...no worries...no strings...wow, can you patent that? market it? you could be rich...write a book...women all over the usa will be running to their doctors to get their tubes tied in order to become more marketable

:smt005 News to me Lippy. I had honestly never met a man who didn't want children of his own until some of the men here. I really thought it was important to all of them. Like I said, even the men I know who have children from a former marriage want that option in their subsequent relationships. I literally went around shaking my head in disbelief over that thread where several of the men indicated it wasn't a must have for them, especially considering none of them have children. It was very confusing, and it's still difficult to believe.
