Jim Inhofe slams Al Gore on climate 'hoax'

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) attacked former Vice President Al Gore on the Senate floor Monday, calling climate change "the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people" and claiming that Gore is now "running for cover."

The "hoax" line is an Inhofe standby, but he raised the level of attack on Monday.

In front of the backdrop of a blown up Weekly Standard cover featuring Gore, Inhofe railed on the former vice president.

"After weeks of the global warming scandal, the world's first climate billionaire is running for cover. Yes, I'm talking about Al Gore," Inhofe charged. "He's under siege these days. The credibility of the IPCC is eroding. The EPA's endangerment finding is collapsing. And belief that global warming is leading to catastrophe is evaporating. Gore seems to be drowning in a sea of his own global warming illusions nevertheless. He's desperately trying to keep global warming alarmism alive today."

The objective of this climate change fraud is to establish a global carbon tax so "green" companies, individuals and governments can make huge profits. At the same time, Al Gore was secretly setting himself up in the carbon credit trading business, massively enriching himself in the process.

a) hurricanes are not becoming either stronger or more numerous than in the past;
b) the Himalayan glaciers are not melting;
c) the Amazon rain forests are not endangered by global warming;
d) arctic sea ice is not disappearing;
e) antarctic sea ice is actually expanding;
f) Greenland is not melting;
g) polar bears are not in any way an endangered species;
h) sea levels are not rising, period;
i) crop production in Africa is not decreasing;
j) global warming is not a threat to water resources to 3/4ths of the globe, and;
k) there has been no global warming at all since 1995.

But to be fair, although we are contributing to the problem. It is a natural cycle.

 

The Gore haters talked a LOT of shit during the winter....but they will be silent when heat records are smashed this summer.

 

These people aren't even interested in having any type of logical debate. Positing the intense snow storms that hit this winter as evidence that global warming is some sort giant conspiracy perpetrated by Al Gore (and the entire global scientific community) is proof that these people are either completely ignorant of the science on global warming or totally dishonest. I didn't bother responding to whathisname's post because it's utterly ridiculous to sit here and claim that there's been no climate change recently when all of the records clearly show that the last couple of decades have been the warmest on record.

Additionally, if you take anything that Jim Inhofe says seriously, then you've issues.

 

Climate Change laws are anti-business and anti-growth we all will be begging for bread.

Rising Sea Swallows Contested Island

(March 25) -- For more than 35 years, India and Bangladesh have been locked in a bitter territorial dispute over New Moore Island, an uninhabited sliver of sludge in the muddy Bay of Bengal. Now that argument has been settled by a higher power: climate change.

According to Sugata Hazra, director of the School of Oceanographic Studies at Jadavpur University in Kolkata, India, the low-lying isle has disappeared under the rising seas. "There's no trace of the island anymore. After studying satellite images, I confirmed this from fishermen," he told reporters. "Climate change has obliterated the source of dispute." The 81-square-mile island is now classed as a submerged landmass.

New Moore, which sat directly astride the two countries' maritime boundary, vanished almost as quickly as it came into existence. Locals first noticed the island in 1974, soon after a massive typhoon swooped across the region, depositing tons of sediment in the mouth of the Hariabhanga River. Suspecting there could be oil in the surrounding waters, Bangladesh and India have repeatedly refused to approve each other's claim of ownership. The spat reached its height in 1981, when India sent gunboats to the region and members of its Border Security Forces planted a flag in the mud. (Bangladeshis took it down as soon as they sailed off.)

"Now, one will have to think of sending submarines to mount a vigil there,'' Hazra joked to The Sydney Morning Herald

Disappearances like this could become much more common in South Asia over the next few years. The U.N. predicts that low-lying Bangladesh could lose almost one-fifth of its territory and see 20 million citizens displaced by 2050 if, as expected, sea levels rise by 3.3 feet. Hazra says five inhabited islands in the Sundarbans delta region, where New Moore once sat, could disappear in the next 10 years alone.

"There's a lesson here that the world should learn while negotiating over territory," Hazra told The Associated Press "It's not whether some country makes a gain. It's whether we all collectively win or lose, given the impact we're seeing on the global environment."

Why is it when liberals like Al Gore and Michael Moore get rich, conservative nutjobs want to cry foul?

 

no global warming???? try telling that to the australian farmers. we've been in a drought since 2002. where i live we can only have 4 minute showers, water our garden every second day (not the lawn though) and wash our cars with a bucket. heck we even shower with a bucket to collect the water to put on our gardens and run a hose from our washing machine to our gardens so we can water them. our summer hits (45c) 113f and it starts getting very warm in october now and still stays warm in april (summer starts on 1 december and ends last day of february). but there's no global warming.
