"Atheism is the rejection of belief in the existence of deities." from the Encyclopedia Britannica. From this you have to ask yourself what purpose are these deities in your life. To me if they are to be worshiped you have to ask yourself why should they.
I found religion to be complete crap about 2 years ago. Anything that you are not allowed to question and have to believe on faith alone is bogus.
I refer to myself as agnostic or agnostic atheist. I don't believe in god or religion, but I'm open minded to there being a higher power.
Same here. The older I got, the more fanciful it sounded. I do, however, believe in quantum physics. LOL
Religion is bogus. However, we all come to realize at some point that there's nothing bogus about God at all.
But the Bible isn't a historical text. Quite illogical when supernatural elements are factored into it. If anything, it's an exaggeration of the truth. By the way, good post from the JulieM topic. Hahahah, cracked me up good.
The whole idea behind religion is to control people. Nothing more. Nothing less. Although in due time, the artistic aspects greatly benefitted them, the basic message (intended to be for good) are basically secular principles fluffed in organized ideology.
I am an atheist, too I was a born-again Christian, studied the Bible, but I could not accept all other religious people were going to hell and the one upmanship of Christianity. Finally, I am a philosopher. I really enjoy studying Nietzsche, Emerson, and existentialism.
Welcome aboard to the forums! And I would like to communicate you. I've just bought two books from Friedrich Nietzsche (Beyond Good and Evil and Thus Spoke Zarathustra), so I can understand more of his standings on pretty much the purpose of meaning and life in general.
