DING DING DING! This dude knew that BYU has a VERY strict honor code. It has NOTHING to do with race. I can't get into the brotha's head about why he chose BYU...but, there must have been a good reason. Perhaps, it was the best uni to serve as a steppingstone to the NBA. I don't know. utah is another planet...it is like getting off the plane and walking into the stepford wives...if you all think that the government controls the private sector in your state then just move to utah and then you will be glad you live where you do...they don't play there...the state is run by the church...there is no separation of church and state...
I'm not sure how anyone could view the school poorly in this case. The kid knew the code and he broke it. It's not the first time it's happened. If anything, BYU should be commended for not giving an athlete preferential treatment. As for the kid, I think he's from Provost and probably wanted to stay close to home.

...just saw this story on good morning america...they also interviewed a football player that was suspended a few years ago from BYU due to getting his girlfriend pregnant...he went on to play in the NFL for 5 years...no one is presenting this spin but on the verge of march madness this 6'9" player gets suspended and he is a media sensation that will more than likely continue through the playoffs...all of this attention certainly can't hurt his professional career in basketball :smt024
