So lets see, supreme court case, black athlete, BM/WW relationship, suing the university, plus the media's influence? I think that the policies of the university are bad but making this into a national case is going to create more harm than good within whats going on in this country. Someone might think up the idea of getting Obama involved in the case thinking that it would benefit Davies.

Homeboy was stupid to go to BYU in the first place. It take common sense to check out the school and policies. Instead, he went in without thinking and now he is in a mess.
Personally, I feel badly for the athlete and I know that it seems to fly in the face of reality for most of the young people on college campuses. However, it's difficult for me to see this issue as more than the case of a student who broke a policy, that happens to be black. None of us have an unfettered right to free speech or expression. You can't yell fire in a movie theater and you can't say things that might incite a riot. You can't walk down the street naked, spit on the sidewalk and many other things for which local jurisdictions may enact laws. People are fired for comments made on online social networks. Executives are fired for violating clauses in their contracts against moral turpitude, like adultery. A University student was withdrawn from a graduate studies program in counseling because of her stance against gays. The athlete accepted a scholarship and adherence to school policies was one of the conditions of acceptance. He chose to accept the scholarship and now he must bear the consequences of those actions, no matter how unfair the policy seems. He no more had the right to violate this policy that one against missing curfews, maintaining a certain gpa or cussing out his coach. It's doubtful that any attorney would take a case like this that would be dismissed by the lowest court hearing the case, for lack of grounds.
I agree with you Swirlman. It's not racially motivated. He just didn't follow or forgot about the policies of his scholarship and what it entails. Maybe he could transfer to a different University.
