There is something about men who've taken a specific turn in their societies because they chose it or were pushed, if not both, and how that can manifest itself in a variety of anti-social behaviors. These men are alleged gang members in a society where poverty is treated with indifference, and I would only be shocked if they were accused of eating a little girl. Gang members rarely make desirable mates for women, so sometimes they do rape females and (in prison) each other.
What you're saying about gang members rarely making desirable mates for women and that's why they rape, may be true in your estimation, but from what I read and hear on the internet is completely different. I am seeing a lot of complaints by good black men that they are not in shortage at all, but that many black women choose thugs over them. Now I agree with you that they aren't desirable mates. But there must be quite a few women who do go for these bad boy type of men, else there would not be so many good BM complaining about this issue.
How else would your average white woman know about such a dynamic in the AA community, unless she read it on the internet? At least that's a good cover to use on how a non Black person might form such an opinion...

Where Is the Humanity in People Today? The victim is reported to be Hispanic - So what? The assailants are reported to be Black - So what? The victim apparently looked older than her age - So what? The victim's face page stated that she likes sex and drinking - So what? The victim willingly went in a car to the place of the assault - So what? The victim agreed to have sex with the men - So what? Does the racial component of this crime disturb me, yes? Is it a fact that rapes of minors, often minorities occur often, and is under-reported, yes? Will people ask whether race is a factor in reporting this case, probably. But, so what, the facts are the facts. For me, the most sensational aspect of this assault is that there were reportedly more than 18 minors and men, some of them student athletes who took part in the assault. These "gentlemen" didn't appear to be gang-bangers, and apparently one student had a school board member as a parent. Later reports have suggested that perhaps the number was 28 men involved in the assault. It demonstrates to me how a "pack" mentality can lead to something so tragic. It's similar to what happened in N.Y. with the women who were literally stripped naked of their clothing by roving groups of guys in Central Park. This victim in this case was reported to have been taken from one location to a secondary location where the assault continued with new assailants. The participants sent texts to other men who showed up for the gang rape. These men are guilty of statutory rape of an 11 year old, period. They have NO defense. I hope that they are treated fairly by the justice system, but I hope they are are punished for their crime as well. What's more appalling for me is to read about the reactions of people to this crime. I have read blogs from men and women who blame the victim for the crime. How misogynistic would any guy have to be, or how devoid of compassion and decency would any woman have to be, to see this as anything but a reprehensible crime, without ANY justification. Where is the humanity for one another in society today?
