Gov. Scott Signs Drug Test for Welfare into Law

"I am currently unemployed and receiving benefits. I got laid off from working for the county I had an engineering position at a county facility. If someone says they want to drug test me I'll tell them to go look at the drug test I had to give for the position I had. Also I wasn't laid off because I was lazy or negative like that asshole Ben Stein would like to think. They abolished my position, I was a good worker. Now I can't find work anywhere. Why not just let the whole country get drug tested for all forms of applications, which also includes:

1. Kindergarten
2. Homeless people eligible to live under the overpass.
3. Political office
4. Infants one hour after birth
5. Nuns
6. Ordained ministers
7. Preachers
8. Occasional singers at a pub

When all mentioned above get drug tested, THEN this topic can be in concession.

 

besides even though i dont use drugs doesnt mean that someone who does in their spare time can't do their job properly ever heard of functioning alcoholics

Well, what if their drug usage is the only thing making them need help in the first place? You want to help someone who does drugs then send them to rehab. I think it could be sort of like enabling. It's like saying it's okay to be a drug addict because we'll give you everything you need for free that your drug use won't allow you to have/get for yourself. I think welfare should help people who are willing to help themselves. I think welfare shouldn't be a permanant way to live, but something to help you get by until you can obtain better for yourself and only as long as that's what you're trying/willing to do. :smt102

 

You're correct that welfare shouldn't be a permanent way to live and that's the big issue there. Sadly, there are people who prefer to live in perpetual poverty and like to acquire that sort of free money as an offer to keep on living. But, at the same time, I do see that heavy taxing could contribute to that as well.

Hence why, if you want people to get off of welfare easier, then the financial burden should be placed on those making more than enough to have all the luxuries and then put more concentrated rules. Drug testing isn't the answer.

 

This joker is a disgrace to all Floridians. Note that he was the CEO of a corporation that bilked the state of millions in health care expenditures.

 

You are probably taking money from families though. I would be against it. It's not like you are going to get people to quit by giving them a couple of welfare dollars. It isn't that much money. And if they don't have that to live on then the next step is crime.
