The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life recently put out the results of a survey on wealth and religion in the United States. You may be surprised to learn which religious groups in this country have the most and the least wealthy members...The religions whose members earn the most money are Jews and Hindus. Hindus top the charts with a combined 65 percent of its members earning at least $75,000 a year. Jews come in second with a combined 58 percent. According to this study, the religions with members earning the least amount of money are historically Black Christian churches and Jehovah's Witnesses. Just 15 percent of members of historically Black churches make $75,000 or more per year...Only 18 percent of Jehovah's Witnesses make more than $75,000 a year. The remaining American Christian churches make up 4 of the 14 categories surveyed. wow umm...shocker there... ...since blacks have been the most disenfranchised racial group since the creation of this country. The Pew should have picked up a history book they could have saved some time figuring this one out.
Rule of thumb: For blacks to get out of poverty, they'll have to stray from religion and start living in reality.
I would agree to this to certain degree. Since preachers and minsters have been using some scripture to manipulate folks. Religion is the opium of the people, but it does not mean you cant be spirtual and have relationship with God tho. I know I am a complex and complicated individual, lol
I'm not really referring to you. I actually agree with your statement altogether. You can still hold strong convictions from a spiritual level, but don't delude your existence by an institutionalized construct. (i.e. religion)
Hmm this post is intriguing but it doenst surprise me. But I think that income can better be tied to cultural values rather than what god or ideal is worshipped in particualar.

People of his ilk are the reason I think the way I do. However I'd like to believe that not all preachers act in such a fashion. I've also been hip to RINGOTV for a while now. Very informative too.:smt023
And to add to the fact that the are a business. They also all vote the way the church leaders tell them to. So if their wacky old fairy tales can be a part of laws and policies then so can their catholic priest defense attorney budget. Okay that was mean but you know what I'm saying.
No you're absolutely right. What's sad is that when they go on missions to other countries, they put their faith first before the people they want to help. It's always an ultimatum: "We'll give you food if you read this important book from America. It's what helps keep you strong." It kills me when they put their own selfish desires ahead of the good will of humanity.
That's pretty much the same thing as preachers (or at least tele-evangelists) buy hairspray for it and we know how flammable that is.
