Next, you need to read Michael Tomasky's article about the ideological resistance that the Republicans have which involve the implementation of tax increases in this bill. I will edit this post and post out some key pieces from it. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...the-debt-debate-out-of-their-right-minds.html
Without the spending Paniro, the 2009 economic stimulus would have never been implemented. We borrowed that $862 billion to get us to the place that we're currently at. Obviously tax increases have to occur, ideally towards the wealthy. I applaud Obama and the Senate for rejecting the Cut, Cap & Balance act.
Creation of millions of new jobs, most of which were in the private sector. Infrastructure investment in the country. Artificially keeps the economy "afloat" for 2009 and 2010. We are beyond that point now (2010), so logically, this plan has to have a balanced approach to reduce our deficits and increase our economy's ability to function. Spending cuts and tax increases need to occur because that is the most logical option, regardless of your political ideology. The other option is to default and crash the global economy.
Anyone who really believes either side is going to let the government default is delusional at best. This is political grand standing and posturing. They did the same thing with passing the budget. Everyone was "oh no the Soldier's aren't going to get paid" ...the 2012 elections are coming. People are trying to solidify their base, but they aren't going to let the government default no matter how much they hate Obama.
I'm a bit confused... Who increased the deficit the most in the past 40 years? Who increased the national debt by 71.9% Who launched two wars bud din't pay for it? Who cost the treasuring $2.1 trillion in foregone revenue from 2001 to 2010? If you add interest payments, that number goes up to around $2.5 trillion. Who continues to fight so that the wealthy don't have to pay any taxes at all? Its funny the republican never had an issue with "out of control spending" until Obama came into office. Which means its not really an issue to them at all. Out of control spending? Riiight
LOL you and Mikey are getting ready to have a cut and paste war and neither of you seem to have solid understanding of what you are talking about. Complaining about $800,000 to the national debt is like bitching that someone stole your penny... ...but that is what $800,000 is when come compared with 14.2 trillion dollars.
Well, the economy is composed of two sectors, which are the private sector and the public sector. The private sector is run by individuals and companies. Most of the jobs in America are in the private sector. The Public Sector includes only jobs which are managed/have oversight from the Federal Government.
What you said was Stating this means you thought the Republicans did a good job with regards to the economy previously. The way you stated it is that is the democrats fault. Which means you are being purposely disingenuous or you don't have a firm understanding of what you are talking about.
Ummmmmm...............what did that have to do with.. ...wait What you wrote has nothing to do with what P and I are talking about. Unless you have anything relevant to add.
If the spending hadn't occurred, job creation wouldn't have happened. That's relevant. Bush spent the taxpayer's money on invasions in Iraq and Afghanistan, not on projects and investments which would have been geared to benefit the American people.
First you said it was the entitlement programs now you say its this. Which is it. Here are the entitlement programs. Home Mortgage Interest Deduction Hope or Lifetime Learning Tax Credit Student Loans Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit Earned Income Tax Credit Social Security--Retirement & Survivors Pell Grants Unemployment Insurance Veterans Benefits G.I. Bill Medicare Head Start Social Security Disability SSI--Supplemental Security Income Medicaid Welfare/Public Assistance Government Subsidized Housing Food Stamps The top three are Medicare Social Security Medicaid So which one would you cut? We have (still today) the most wealthy country on earth. Even China who everyone is celebrating; we are still almost 4 times bigger. And you mean to tell me we can't take care of our poor, our sick and elderly and our children? If you make a statement that says something to the affect "Washington has to get serious and both sides need to stop acting like children and get a handle on our spending" I'll agree with you... But you what did was lay blame on the democrats, which I say again means you were either being purposely flippant, or you don't understand what you are talking about. The fact of the matter is that Repblicans got us were are today with this economy. By waging two wars as the tone $720 Million Each Day - By giving tax bracks to the most wealthy at a time when the economy was falling apart. - Removing regulation and oversight under this silly belief that the markets would regulate themselves (how did that turn out) - By ballooning the size of government to sizes not seen since the early 1980s. Republicans talk out of both sides of their mouths.
Bush checks went to make ignorant Americans giddy. YAY I GOT(S) ME 1,200 DOLLARS. So sink us down by the tax cuts, he goes further (to increase the debt) by sending "empty" checks, all the time waging war, all the while relaxing the code so that companies could move accounts of shore to pay even less taxes.. Obama's plan with directly to infrastructure, education, health, and energy, federal tax incentives, and expansion of unemployment benefits. When Obama got the economy from Bush, it was in the worst state its been in in 50 years. That's crazy. You need to turn off fox news man and do lil more research that amounts to more than bitching about 800,000 dollars.
NOW THIS! I can get with!!!!! I don't agree with Obama on a lot of things, but the one thing I whole heatedly disagree with is is somehow pointing to Obama and saying "Oh this is your fault" if you remember the republicans bitched that Obama's bail out WASN'T BIG ENOUGH.. ....ha ha ha ha and now they turn around and complain that he did it in the first place. The reason why this works is because Americans have a short memory and they don't look up information for themselves.
Nahh religion is subjective. This really isn't a political debate, what I wrote is not subjective at all man. Its cold hard facts.....the numbers as we have them. No person who is paying attention can call the republican FISCAL CONSERVATIVE. No way, not by any stretch of the imagination. That's not subjective man. Jimmy Carter - decrease in debt Reagan - over 20% increase in national debt Bush I - 13% increase in national debt Clinton - 10% decrease in national debt Bush II - just under 30% increase in national debt Obama (as of 2010..9+ increase) and that was trying to manauge faile wars and a failed economic policy. Come on man... So no, there is no "agree to disagree" when you are talking about reality. One of us is wrong...and one of us is right. guess which one of us that is?
dude...over 10 years it comes out to over 700 million a day (not a week) to run both wars........ ...that's real talk And while we are at it. Under democratic president the size of government has actually shrinked.....AND....the size of government is shrinking under Obama.
I have to spread the love before I can rep you again. I just don't have a problem letting the billionaires who profited from those wars pay for them by increased taxes. The poor and middle class have paid enough - in blood as well as money.
P, so while republican feed yall that line about - fiscal irresponsibility - small government - less influence Over the past 50 years its been the biggest lie played on the American people because folk aren't paying attention. That's not SUBJECTIVE that's the reality of this country.
You are seriously using CNS news as an unbiased source? Are you dim?? The original name was the CONSERVATIVE news service.
