Wow, great additions guys. I'll add one more:

I haven't seen "Network" in decades. It looks as though I'm going to have to revisit this film.

    Wow.

    Yes I do.

Well, it's someone's job to get people caring about what's going on. People need a leader that opens up their eyes to the truth.

As for the bolded part, I absolutely agree. It's sickening. I have never watched one second of "Jersey Shore" yet I can tell you the names of most, if not all, of the reality "stars" on that show. Why? Because wherever you look (internet, magazines, TV shows, morning radio shows, evening radio shows, print newspapers, CNN) the media has INUNDATED us with facts about these types of shows. You can't help but hear about them. It's SICK. And why? Because the higher ups don't want us to know what's really going on behind the scenes.

Think about how much you hear about Snooki and The Situation vs how much you hear about the Stimulus Packages or the Healthcare Bill. The latter stories are big for a day, maybe two and then disappear into the depths of the newspapers, if they're even in there at all. But go to msn.com or yahoo.com and you can read ALL about Kim Kardashian's wedding and that coverage will last a f*cking WEEK.

WTF is wrong with this picture?!?!?

That's the thing. In this country no one wants to be lead everyone swears they know better. You think people aren't aware that government is corrupt and that corporations are fucking them. This is the same thing with the whole eating healthy argument. People KNOW what's good for them but they choose to IGNORE it hoping they don't have to change and that everything will just magically work out. People don't care about truth even when they know what is. They'd rather eat bad shit hoping to get skinny and bury their heads in the sand while bad shit happens hoping it'll all work out. We simply have lost the will to fight. I don't care who the leader is we're all just sheep at this point praying things get better. Obama was the last "leader" this country could stomach. He failed miserably. Every piece of legislation he's signed off on supports corporate interest more so than the well being of the public. If someone can prove me wrong I would LOVE to see it.

I beg to differ. Most people will follow a charismatic leader if that person was saying what is in everyone's minds. THAT is what this country, hell this world, is severely lacking right now: a charismatic leader to bring the masses together and wake them from their collective comas.

And I'm not talking about a charismatic political leader, I'm talking about someone outside the political system.

You all have to stop blaming whatever President is in office at the time. Everyone thinks the President is the leader of this country. And you know what? That's what Congress wants to keep the people believing. I bet very few people when posed the questions: who are your state's Senators? Who are your state's Representatives? could answer those questions correctly without looking them up first. And you know what? I'm one of those people.

I'm guilty of only knowing for sure, one of my state's Senators. I'm pretty sure I know the other guy's name, without looking them up. There is no emphasis on who we are electing to Congress, and they are the ones that matter more so than the President. If you want to blame someone, blame all of the Senators and Representatives who have failed miserably at their jobs to look after their constituents.

This country needs a charismatic non-politician. If one comes up to prominence you can be damn sure you'll be watching the populace wake up.

Book no offense but if the public won't wake up after the public fucking that was 2008 collapse and the debt ceiling that was just made nothing will. Like I said earlier this country will not wake up until a symphany of disaster wakes them up. Most would rather watch the newest episode of American Idol and dream of becoming a star.
It really pains me to say it because my experience in this country has always been amazing but the writing on the wall is clear. America is done

If it's done then take your silly ass to Washington and protest

you got a lot of free time, right

    :)

I'd also check political boards and see if rallies are being held

getting involved and leading by example is the only way

Not enough people are hurting yet.

When EVERYONE knows at least 10 formerly employed people suddenly out of work, things will start to jump off.

Exactly. As long as they still have their satellite TV, their iPhones, iPODS and iPADs, they could give a flying f*ck about what's really happening in this country, which is so scary to me.

Which is why there's such a need now for someone to wake these people up from their technology comas. Because when people really start hurting, it may be too late.

I agree with you but I just don't see it happening. We're not in a coma we're dead. Someone or something needs to breathe life back into this country
