When any politician tout themselves as a moral crusader on "traditional family" causes, then they need to act on those ideas instead of living contrary to what they stand for. That's the issue here. Dishonesty and hypocrisy beyond a shadow of a doubt. Rangel's tax issues have been settled long ago and many more politicians were in that position. Tom DeLay being a major one.

There are corrupt mofos on both sides of the political spectrum. I'm with paniro on this one, Rangel is far more corrupt than this guy imo.. And then you have John Edwards that cheated on his wife dying of cancer. So lets not act like Democrats are little angels here.
Iggy...no one's denying that at all. You're missing the point altogether. Unlike Democrats, Republicans are quicker to tout that they are the more moral party when in fact they are most corrupt especially when it comes to them favoring the rich and would lie to their constituents and say it benefits everyone. Now you tell me who's more likely to lie to the public on a grand scale? And might I add, one that affects everyone.
Oh I definitely agree there that Republicans and conservatives like to tout themselves as the family values/morals party. But I don't think that Republicans as a whole are any more corrupt than the Democratic party.
I would wager that this sort of ordeal is more about the lesser of two evils. However, this is what you get in a system like this. And we're talking bastardized plutocracy.
Rangel didn't pay the property taxes on a rental property he owned in the Virgin Islands, used Congressional stationery(OMFG~!!) to fund raise and people act like he's this slumlord stealing poor folk's welfare checks!!lol Nope, the closeted family values Republican IMO is the bigger hypocrite.
True,the GOP is a lot more corrupt because of their hypocrisy. They sneak those bills into state houses via stealth wheras the Democrats have nothing to hide. To date David Vitter did not resign from office and the two Larry Craig and Mark Sanford served the rest of their terms without heat from the GOP. The conservatives talk the talk but,not walk the walk.
And then you have liberal democrats always trying to start class warfare by saying how they are "sticking up for the little guy or the middle class", meanwhile they are in with the big businesses, Wallstreet and making tons of cash. The hypocrisy goes both ways folks.
DOn't be fooled about which party is perpetually and consistently engaged in class warfare. American jobs have been outsourced to the third world over the last decade, there's no manufacturing base in this country anymore and Republicans refuse to let the Bush tax cuts for the nation's wealthiest incomes expire which continues to balloon the national debt. The rich in this country are getting richer and the middle class is on the verge of evaporating into the next shift at Mickey Ds, and you blame the Democrats for 'class warfare'?? Take a look at the federal agencies and programs the GOP is willing to cut from the Federal government in order to 'balance the budget'.
