Most broadway stars, even the very best of them, have trouble getting top work in Hollywood. And to be fair just because one is great on stage doesn't always mean that will translate to the big screen. As for Idina she is a cutie pie and very talented but she isn't a typical Hollywood beauty in terms of her looks. And for her to realize her true potential on screen she will have to find the right type of roles suited for her talents. And frankly I don't think a CSI franchise or a role in a Transformers film fit that description.
NONE of the women you named are Jewish.:smt039 Being with a Black man has hurt Adina Menzel's career.
You know full well being with a BM has hurt her career. C'mon now.. Why even deny it??? If she were married to a white dude...mexican...or even an Arab...she'd be a household name.
ROFL flaming. You always bring it straight cold bro. I agree that when a dude is straight up about what's up, people act like nimrods when they hear the real deal "Hollyfield" I've had people make that comment about me as well in regards to my interest in white women, in that they knew this or that. Either way it was all irrelevant to me, I'm going to do me. I am not one for peer pressure or being influenced by the mindset of others. Never that. Taye is being straight up about what his deal is, take it or leave it. Haters can kick rocks, barefoot that is.
No I never said don't twist my words. I'm saying since when does talent precede success in Hollywood. Most of the heavy weights in Hollywood are far from the most talented. Its more about who you know and who you blow and if the public responds to you. Like Will Smith is far from being the most talented AA male actor but he sure as hell makes the most. And its because he's BELOVED.
IMO there are simply too many factors involved to isolate Idina's lack of H'weird success to being married to Taye Diggs, or her being a Jewish woman married to a BM. Not everyone leaves the stage to become a star in Hollywood. It just doesn't work that way. Movie roles and casting are more about contacts and relationships than pure talent. Any movie you see for the most part would have been equally as good with ten different actors, male and female, in the lead roles. Could it be a factor?? Of course. But to say it ABSOLUTELY is regardless of any other criteria is false. Hollyweird is where dreams go to die, not where stars are born. Make a list of the top 10-15 females stars or top grossing female actors in Hollywood. How many are jewish?? How many working female White actors in Hollyweird are married to Black men?? Taye's wife isn't a STAR because....she just isn't. She's not scary talented. She's not scary beautiful. Sorry. Girls like her are a dime a hundred in Holllyweird. And how many female Broadway actors have made the seamless switch to H'weird stardom in the last 15 years??
Some of you are also missing the point that the experience of acting on stage in front of a live audience is entirely different from acting on film/television. Some actors prefer the stage, full stop. I have no idea about this woman, but assuming she's had no opportunities due to her romantic choices or religion is silly. A lot of big Hollywood stars wait for years for the opportunity to work on Broadway - it's a lot more prestigious within the community of actors than doing a film. Broadway actors are "the actor's actors" so to speak, and some people would not want to give that up, or the lifestyle which comes with Broadway work, to go sit around a film set all day to do 4 lines.
Outside of Streisand and Streep I can't think of anyone. Besides hollywood is fucking liberal as hell. If they were so race happy that chick on Grey's Anatomy would have never been the lead/title character and that particular show(one of the highest rated on tv) is know for their huge amount of interracial relationships and the spin off of that show has the lead character (white chick) with Diggs(black guy). Just saying
Yes have we ruled out.........SHE JUST DOESN'T WANT IT?? Why is there always a plot against someone. Maybe she doesn't want to move coasts. Some actors like the live stage and see tv and small time movies as not as honorable. Rule out all these too. I think she is well respected in her arena. Not every actor is going to make it big or be on CSI. :smt043
Maybe its being in NY that makes me bias but Menzel is the biggest thing in acting out here. She doesn't have a male equivilent, she is the biggest name on Broadway right now. I'd rather be the queen of NY than be some small time actress in Hollyweird(everything is small time in comparison. Name a female actress her age who dominates Hollywood the way she does broadway)
Really DK. People are acting like she is acting in commuity theatre. She is big time. Maybe she is like you and doesn't want to leave the city because her family it there.......:smt043
Could be smart ass. That and the job market is awful and I'm in school out here. Do you come from a big family? Are you guys close?
funny how people like to assume they know someone. I mean..there's no way a woman might forgo success to be a mom. Patriarchy ? why should that apply to people in hollywood.
Broadway, in some ways, is "larger" than Hollywood given that those who do theatre often make better actors and actresses due to the stringent and stressful environment of perfecting not just their lines, but also their motions behind the camera. But in the end, Menzel most likely rather keep a low-key in the whole ordeal instead of being under the guise and pressure of hollywood executives. Who knows, maybe those two are under great consideration to start their own production company and direct their own low budget movies based on interracial relationships. That could be something to consider as well.
