According to the story on NBC news last night, this is why she didn't come forward at the time. Her lawyer had sworn statements from people who were told about Cain's actions at the time, so I think it will be difficult for his supporters to make a claim that she's now fabricating it.

Yet, if the accusers had solid proof, complete with DNA and Live Cam, the nature of the beast in our society is to believe that the victims must have been running a scam from the beginning or were motivated/encouraged by ulterior motives or outside influences... So the conspiracy theory and the blame game will continue to leave questions and relegate the real issues of Cain's candidacy on the backburner. Tonight, I heard a sound byte of Cain offering to take a lie detector test... If I had nothing to hide, I wouldn't wait to be asked for proof, it would already be out there, daring my accusers to bring it... But then again, I'd make a poor blackmail/bribe victim... Pick a lawyer out of the yellow pages, and odds are good that they have contributed to the democratic party or to a democratic candidate. None of this means that her allegations are untrue. I really doubt that this is engineered by Axelrod out of nothing. If anything else, what's his motivation? Would you rather see Obama running against Cain, the pizza man with the 9-9-9 plan, or Romney?
