The Republican party wasn't started to end slavery, but a Republican was the first president to end slavery.

I thought it was stating the Republican Party was formed solely to end slavery. But yes, one of the party's basic tenets was that all men should be free.

Conservatism has a maturity problem. They rather wade through simplicity, which is fine, but goes about it the wrong way.

Dementia breeds a long-standing breaking down of progress.

    Reality Check

Hate it break it to you, but all businesses rely on government in some form or another. This "We build it ourselves" mantra is nonsense and only divide the country even further.

In the first four years? Can you direct me to a link. Btw the savings and loan scandal of 87 happened on his watch too.

Even conservatives are throwing Romney under the bus at this point. The man is a horrible candidate. The only strategy the Republican Party seems to have left is voter disenfranchisement, donations from billionaires, and as many negative 30 second ads they can spit out. No ideas of any substance (let alone specifics) on the economy, health care, foreign policy, etc.

thank you for a wonderful post. I just came to this so I dont know what arguements were going on before. I too am a Republican, but African American. I was raised in a conservative home as well, and a conservative christian denomination. my parents were a mixed couple-one democrat and one republican. my republican side was republican all t he way back to the 1870s. I am conservative and understand why I am so. I belive in small govt, less regulations on business and fewer (not Zero) regulations on people, pro life, pro military, pro traditional family, pro Israel.

I dont have a beef with democrats, or liberals etc. I dont argue with people who disagree as I am sure they have a good reason for why they vote or have a certain ideology. so I try and stay above the fray and know why i support my party and work to elect those who support my interests.

    thank you again

For the Black republicans and conservatives:No place in the table for you. To support people who forbid you to vote even it is for them is a fool hardy move. I have not seen any Black wanting Apartheid back in South Africa. As I repeat before there is no way in the world those White male would accept a Brother beyond being a token. Waiting for a Black face in a high place in conservative politics is a pipe dream.
