The problem was Romney flip flopped again and presented himself as a moderate Democrat. All the policies he was opposed to, suddenly he's in favor of. He wants the Massachusetts healthcare plan he established as governor to be used as a model state by state for the ENTIRE COUNTRY. Um, that's called OBAMACARE. When are people going to figure out that Romney changes his beliefs on every one of his campaign positions DAILY??? WHen Romney says he doesn't want to lower tax rates for the rich, but also said earlier in his campaign he wants to lower the marginal tax rate to 28%, does he think people aren't paying attention??

He has no beliefs. He is just a tool who will say anything to get elected. ie.. "etch a sketch", "multiple choice" candidate.
Honestly, I won't be looking at the polls next week, I'm pretty sure the race is gonna tighten after this debate.
Romney ran all over Obama. I was hella laughing at the faces Obama was making. Romney got under his skin.
I do think Romney came off smoother and slicker acting. But....the things he said were full of half truths and incorrect things. Why Obama didn't go to town on him no idea. People are asking why Romney was blinking so much. You know what blinking a lot means body language wise. This is a series of debates so we'll see if they come out different next one. Since it was here, our local channel chose 12 undecideds to attend and listening to them after was interesting. They overwhelmingly thought Obama won and only one thought Romney did. They all said the need to hear more before they decide though. The media portrays undecideds as stupid but none of these came off that way at all.
No, I don't believe it would. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard that excuse being tossed around for an incumbent's poor debate performance before this year. As a current undecided voter, I have to say, Obama didn't inspire a great deal of confidence with his performance last night. In fact, he almost looked as though he didn't really care if he got the job for the next 4 years. I haven't done all of the reading up on fact checking yet, but I will say this: Obama made a comment last night about how companies are getting tax breaks to ship their businesses overseas. He made it sound like a horrible, horrible Republican evil tax break. Instead of agreeing with him, I looked at the TV and said: have you not been President for the last 4 years? Why haven't you changed it then?? I'm admittedly having a real hard time supporting Obama this time around.
I think Romney won round 1. I think it has a lot to do with Romney going through so many debates during the primary season. Obama hasn't debated in 4 years and hasn't really been asked hard questions from the media. I think Obama will do better in the second debate, but unfortunately this one was on the economy which is the major issue of the campaign. And I do think it's a little ridiculous that people said Romney didn't provide enough detail. He has a 52 point economic plan...I'm pretty sure nobody can get that out in a 2 minute response. But I thought he gave firm concise answers and came across personable for the first time ever. I'm a Romney supporter and my biggest critique has always been that his "business like" demeanor is a gift and a curse. He's able to give off great facts, but people want to see the emotion and compassion as well.

The president alone doesn't shape the laws. You have to have a congress that will agree to changes. And he hasn't. Most presidents get busy their second term with their agenda. They don't have to fear election repercussions on non popular decisions.
