Abortion: Political vs. Personal “I’m pro-choice because it’s her own body and she can do whatever she wants with it..” “I’m pro-life because I believe in the sanctity of life and the fetus is a person too.” We hear these arguments left and right - from our friends, family, and our politicians. The debate on abortion is seemingly a consistent issue every political cycle and in our personal lives. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Socialist, whatever...you still hold a position on the matter. However, beyond the talking heads and the straight talk positions, our positions doesn’t always reflect the statistics. Consider, there are more people in this country that define themselves as pro-life, but the the approach isn’t clear. Are they pro-life in a sense that they personally wouldn’t get an abortion or would they support laws restricting abortion in their respective states? Roe v. Wade, perhaps the most moderate answer to the entire abortion debate, has been challenged every single year. Well, in order to get a better idea on where people stand, how would you define yourselves? Personally pro-life, politically pro-choice? Personally pro-life, politically pro-life? Personally pro-choice, politically pro-life? Personally pro-choice, politically pro-choice? I believe these choices are more accurately reflective on the positions people have today concerning the politics of abortion. Out of the four choices, which one best reflects your politics on abortion? And explain your reasoning on the matter. I’m looking forward to everyone’s responses.
Touchy subject. I personally think if a woman is raped or the pregnancy would endanger the life of the mother then i'm all for abortion. In other cases i would wish the mother had the baby cus some women say its a wonderful experience to see a living being form inside them and come out of them after 9 months of nurturing. Ultimately, its the woman's choice and no one else. So i guess i dont have a particular stance on this.
I am pro-choice because A. It should be a woman's choice as to whether she wants to give birth and B. the Earth is overcrowded and I welcome most solutions that thin the herd.
Personally pro-life in that I'm a crazy vegan hippy who could never end a life (I'm also against the death penalty). Especially not a life that was growing inside of me that I'd created. After I got pregnant young and chose not to abort I became a crazy pro-lifer. Then I grew up and realised things aren't black and white so... I'm politically pro-choice in that I'm a crazy feminist and I believe it's a personal choice and I respect that. I think it's completely wrong for the govt. to have any say on why women can have abortions (fuck all you stupid fucking Republican white men). Rape or ho-ing around - who are we to fucking judge?
YES!! You know, women can get married in New York State now... So....um...*gets down on one knee*...LS...will you marry me? ROFL Brilliant post, girl!
I WILL!!! I'm actually in NYC next month. Hahaha. I wanna marry Tarshi too. And a few other women on here. Let's just have a big ol' lesbian wedding with all the cool chicks on here. Kinda ironic, we come here for black men and marry white women.
YES!!!! You hear that boys?? SHE SAID YES! WE'RE GETTIN' HITCHED!!! lol And seriously...you've seen this place lately. Is it any wonder that we're just running to each other? hehe
cosign Even though I'm not crazy about the idea of being held responsible for a child a woman decides to have without my consent. If I can't make her have it or abort it I don't see why I should have to be held responsible for a decision she makes on my behalf.
You don't have the right choices up there K. Abortion is a very personal decision. No One, No way, No how should have say over who has that decision except the woman carrying the baby. Doesn't matter how that child concieved. It's up to the would be mother to decide to bring that kid into this fuckered up world or not. And for really real, the government should be the very last person to have a say if they have to have a say to begin with. Oh, hell to the no on that one. Fuck fat white 2 dollar haircut and hoes christian worshipping republican asshats. Get the hell out of my vagina and every other vagina walking the planet and learn how to regulate your own foul dick first. You fuckers.
The original choices were basically, "Are you for or against abortion?" But I felt that such questions would have been a little too problematic given that the words or language would be a little assuming especially for some of the people who find this subject matter to be incredibly touchy. So, I kept it well within the political realms.
abortion has nothing to do with politics period. just like sex and religion shouldnt either. they are called civil liberties and when old ass white men feel the need to revoke them then something needs to be done to stop that mess.
With any civil liberties, politics will always have some level of involvement. The best bet would be whether the government would retain or expand abortion rights or take the progressive-libertarian approach and simply get government out of it altogether and keep it free from government hands.
I am not sure all vaginas walking the planet will agree with you on this. Some planet walking vaginas believe no woman should abort no matter how the woman got pregnant because its all in God's plan.
fine..they are free to stick scripture up there if their god demands it.. but no government has a right to stick a bible between my legs..thanks.
