Was slavery followed by nearly a hundred years of jim crow just my imagination? What about the introduction of crack into the poor black areas? Red lining?
Do you think that absent government intervention private businesses and citizens were going to treat blacks fairly when they weren't doing it for literally hundreds of years? Come on Paniro be fair fam. Must be great to live in that bubble.

I don't mind the typos I make them a lot too lol.

First off government programs have been around to assist whites as well yet there doesn't seem to be a problem with them using government aide only blacks. Its a perception problem that's fueled by a lot of stereotyping as well political agendas by both the right and the left. The right using blacks as scapegoats to rile up there poor and lower middle class working class white base and the left using them as political bargaining chips to get more votes.
Under the slavery the family structure was probably even worst and I can't believe you'd side with that horseshit logic. Any system where a man can protect his wife or daughter from being raped or sold to another person is not better than what we currently have. Any system that would allow a person to be murdered in front of his family without consequence is not a better situation. If you wanted to compare it to post slavery specifically the 40s and 50s I'd agree but a big part of that was the new deal that gave jobs to family minded black men who to take care of their families but couldn't find work. I won't deny that some people abuse the system but the spotlight specifically shone on black folk is the highest form of racism because it paints a false picture. It makes ALL black people look lazy, it makes ALL black people look like they're looking for a handout when its far from the truth not to mention we are far from the majority of people occupying social welfare.
And if you think it was black people banning together that got us things you are absolutely bugging. Someone had to take pity on us to get the ball moving. We had the desire sure but it took an outside force to help.

Son. Why do you insist on coming here like you are trying to school folks on something about black folks & life in the black community when there are those of us who know far better than you exactly what life in the black community is like, both good & bad from first hand experience. Based on the things you've revealed about yourself you're the last guy to be trying to school anyone on getting their shit together and making their own way. Some of us came from nothing and made something of ourselves and didn't have things handed to us. We struggled or worked on various levels for the shit we have & made proper choices. So please take that self righteous attitude you have and take it somewhere else. That's a perfect example of one of the many reasons why black folks no longer have their shit together.

He doesn't want to hear that. He's bought into "the truth" as told by the Michelle Bachmanns, Rush Limbaughs, and Sarah Palins of the world. King & all the other people who actively marched & rallied to help bring about change should have done like the great Herman Cain and set on the sideline believing their own greatness would get them by & overcome some day...........

Darkking, remember the 1980's when Apartheid is still strong in South Africa? The right wing from Reagan down want to have relations with that government who forbids IM. Do any conservative think that people like Clarence Thomas would be in his position if it not for the liberals or even to marry his White woman? This no government stuff is full of fairy tales.

that just about sums it up in a nutshell

if i remember correctly (this was like...last year or some shit), ole panny said that he and his kids have never, never experienced racism on a personal level

he really doesn't know what the big deal is around here

god that bubble must be awesome

Or it could it happen and he just isn't aware of it. I was like that when I was a kid because we grew up with this "we are all the same" motif and the idea of someone treating me differently because I'm black never entered my mind. When I turned sixteen and everyone started looking for jobs and I started noticing most of my white friends found "good" jobs in the mall relatively fast. While most of my black friends, with the exception of the exceptionally pretty ones, pretty much found jobs in food service. NO ONE WANTED A JOB IN FOOD SERVICES yet it seemed like the black kids ended up in those jobs more often than not. I lucked and got a job at a music store but this was during the time when hip hop was becoming huge and I think they wanted more black people in there to sell the product. Interestingly when I look back I remember the black kids working the floor organizing cds and helping customers but none of us worked the register. And I honestly don't think people are foaming at the mouths racist trying to hurt black people whenever they get a chance but these preconceived perceptions influences decisions. I don't get how someone can't see that.

I think you said it perfectly...most likely people just aren't aware of it. I was raised with the "we are all the same" mentality, and my social circles were like-minded people. It was easy to get caught up in my surroundings and naively assume the rest of the world felt the same way. This is why I love getting to know people who aren't just like me...I want to hear about their past experiences, and what life is like in their shoes. And while I agree that preconceived perceptions influence decisions, you also must admit that not everyone harbors those misconceptions. Maybe this is big-city Raider talking, but some of the highest positions at my work are filled with bm...that gives me hope that we're at least starting to move into a more equal arena.

I think its cool and I see the same thing in the two places I work but I tend to look at things on a macro level like why is it bm are 4 times more likely to be unemployed and why is it that a wm with a criminal record is more likely to be hired for a job over a bm with no criminal record. I want to be more optimisitc because we are moving into a world where we are going to need each more than ever and these petty nonsensical disagreements based on skin tone can't be allowed. I also more people can stop looking at our youth as a representation of all black people. The amount of white people who think there's no difference between a bm in his 20s compared to one in his 40s amazes me.

It is a reminder that we all live in a virtual reality due to our limited ability to perceive our surroundings and thus understand the universe. We must all continue to strive to elevate our consciousness in this lifetime. Sometimes you have to witness someone operating at a very low frequency to remind you of this fact.

why aren't there more black republicans? Because black people aren't that stupid.

I remember recently running across a website of "conservative" commentary. The white guys there were making alll kinds so vicious, nasty racist comments about obama, blacks in general etc., etc. The usual stuff. Right there in the middle of the convo was a "conservative" black woman - an apologist type, just absorbing all the abuse.

Refuting all the shit they were talking, yet still there wanting to be down with them. Stockholm syndrome for sure.

Black republican is like a gay republican. Straight up stupid.

Dems ain't all that much better, but at least they offer a veneer of basic dignity.

depends on your interests, if you're wealthy I can understand based on pure selfish self interest why one would be a Republican. Money transcends race and if you have it most likely you want to hold on to as much of it as possible.

Now working class and poor blacks being Republicans makes absolutely no sense at all. Shit of any race really, they want to eliminate you, they want you poor or dead period the end. ALL of their policies are pro corporation/big business so they can keep acting like turning over everything to business will benefit them. Like you said at the very least dems believe in social programs. Republicans will watch starve and get sick and blame it all on you and say you didn't work hard enough while denying they got rid of all the work.

I saw Hannity last night of those clowns from Project 21 aka Project 19. They never mentioned voter ID,early voting,or the recent slurs of White Republicans.
