If I had a choice between a chance to better myself in a major university in which it is all paid for and a fledgling music career, I'd go for the education. The music industry, though it is as big as our own known universe, is still the toughest business to succeed in. I think he should've stayed in school and enjoyed his experiences there. He would've benefitted from it a lot moreso than a rap career. He'll learn soon enough.
just because he was offered a scholarship doesnt mean: 1) he will be learning anything 2) that the scholarship is gauranteed. they can yank iot at anytime for any reason (suc as he is not getting an excessive amount of positive performance on the field)
I just don't like that fact that so many of our young men think this is a viable way to move up in the world. There are so many other, more stable, professions they can pursue. The odds are one in million that you make it...and it's even more bleak in terms of success/longevity.
same with football. less than 1% make it to the pro's and less than 1% of that make a million dollar contract. the average life span of a nfl player is about 2-3 years. most have serious physical and mental problkems later in life and serious injuries are high during play.
In this area, there are a lot of rappers recording albums and trying to get airplay anywhere they can. If they get a song on the radio and it is requested at least 12 times or more, the radio station has to keep that song as part of the daily rotation. Some even attempt at establishing a church or religion. Restaurants and clubs are very profitable, and competitive. Even moreso with mobile auto detailing.
Of course. If someone is paying for it, that person is calling the shots. That has been that way for years. If I were given this opportunity right now, I'd take it and follow the rules to a t.

i know people (some on this very forum) who had athletic scholarships and used them to complete their degree even if your scholarship gets pulled later down the line, that doesn't mean you have to start over degree wise that scholarship for as long as you had it, paid for your classes and you don't have to pay it back you can use it as a stepping stone (less debt) or if you're fortunate, you can ride it out all 4 years it's not something to sneeze at..but you know when it comes to school sports and that fact that student athletes make out like fat rats, goodlove will always throw a little tizzy :smt081 the guy would have a better chance at playing football while he's young and healthy and milking that scholarship for what it's worth, than making money in the rap game
