Life Sentence for woman who cut off man's Penis

Kieu, 50, of Garden Grove, Calif., was convicted of torture and aggravated mayhem for cutting off the penis of her 60-year-old husband, whose name was not given in court and was only identified as “John Doe.” Los Angeles television station KTLA identified the husband as “Glen B.”

Kieu cut off her husband’s penis following an argument on the night of July 11, 2011, when the husband asked if a friend could stay at their home. Kieu became enraged and laced her husband’s dinner with Ambien.

Her husband got tired and went to bed around 9 p.m., when Kieu tied his legs and arms to the bed. When the husband woke up, Kieu pulled down his pants, grabbed his penis and cut it off with a knife, the Orange County district attorney’s office said in a statement announcing the sentencing.

Kieu then took her husband’s penis and threw it into the garbage disposal. She turned on the disposal, resulting in the mutilation of her husband’s sex organ.

“After attacking the victim, Kieu called 911 and reported that John Doe was bleeding,” the district attorney’s office said. “John Doe then spoke to the police dispatch and reported that his penis had been cut off by the defendant.”

When cops arrived at Kieu’s home, she said she was “suffering from depression and other mental health issues, and therefore could not be found guilty because she did not have the requisite intent to complete the crime,” according to the DA’s office.

Before receiving the seven years-to-life prison sentence, Kieu’s husband addressed her in the Orange County courtroom. He said he was victimized twice: once during his wife’s criminal act and a second time by having to relive the incident through the trial.

Kieu “viciously deprived me of part of my life and identity. Then, as is routine in cases of violence that involve something sexual, the victim must endure, at the hands of the defense, a second attack,” the husband said Friday. “This was a cruel and calculated violation of a person’s body and mind. I now struggle with what is before me. She has torn off my identity as a man. She has caused doubt in my belief in good. She has betrayed my trust in people.”
