Are any of you comfortable in a city, suburban, beach or country setting? Or are you comfortable in more than one setting? Let's talk about it.
I'm most comfortable in the city or on a beach. If it's in the country, it better be a tropical rainforest. The rural U.S. gives me the creeps a bit.
I'm comfortable in the city or at the beach...that's what I'm familiar with. There is something incredibly intriguing about the country lifestyle though (animals everywhere, slower pace, family oriented, affordability, etc), but I'm not sure I'd survive there! I've heard from a few people that I'd stand out like a sore thumb in the country. My comfort level is definitely in the city.
I'm the most comfortable out West where there is wide open spaces still and hills/mountains, lots of greenery, etc. I would have to live some place like a suburb of Denver or Rapid City, SD, but as long as I can leave my house and see mountains in the background, I'm all good. Wide open spaces for me, thank you.
Cities scare me. I have no sense of direction lol, and I start to feel suffocated and panicked. I am happiest in the countryside, rural areas, or just little towns or villages with just the usual shops and maybe a supermarket or two lol, just like the place that I live! We have a McDonalds, a Lidl and a Morrisons lol. Thats pretty much it! A few other shops of course, this is in the town centre, plus takeaways, pubs, charity shops, and we even have a post office! Haha. You can walk around the whole place in about 15 minutes, and that is just perfect for me
Have I mentioned how much I enjoy your posts?! I'm guaranteed a chuckle with every one! Your little town sounds exactly like what intrigues me about the country lifestyle. The idea of "maybe a supermarket or two" is so surreal to me. I love the fact that you're excited just to have a post office! I live in a city of over a million people...we have grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, and big shopping stores on every corner. I've lived in San Diego for over 15 years and there are still parts of it I've never been to! While I'm incredibly interested in visiting places like you live, I'm not sure I could give up all the conveniences of this city life! I love hearing about small towns though...it always makes me feel warm and cozy on the inside lol.
What's not to love about fresh cow manure spread on the fields for fertilizer? Or Amish buggies that snarl traffic (not to mention the road apples the horses leave behind). Or sometimes, you have to drive a half hour to get to the grocery store. Or if you live alone, you might scream for help and no one would hear you. I'm kidding, really. I like the rural areas here in SE PA. It's peaceful (if a little smelly, at times). I like things about the country and the city, having lived in both.
While I enjoy hanging in the city with my girlfriends, cities like DC (where I am closest to) are too busy and bustling. I get tired of the loud horns, the rude people, or the crowds. I am much more comfortable in the country, beach, or suburbs of a small town. I love the mountains and the countryside. I am happiest in a quiet, relaxing environment...
I have lived in suburbia and the country. It has some advantages. Fresh air a clear view of the night sky when the moon and stars are out. I have always been fascinated by city life. Every time I went to Newark, NJ or New York City or into downtown Miami, I feel at home. I often wonder what it would be like to live in New York City(if I had the money to do so). Everything I could ever need and want is there. Of course, I'd probably find those same things in Chicago, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Texas, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, California. Philadelphia, or Newark, New Jersey. I am not much of a beach fan. I like lakes and large ponds. They are more intimate than the beach, imho. The beach is no fun during a tropical storm(I was working at a beachside condo resort the night a tropical storm came through. It was so dark and the rain was so heavy. The next morning, almost half of the beach had been eroded away and the tide was up to eight feet. And it was still dark. So, the beach is not my kind of place to be. But, I do enjoy a walk on the midway or boardwalk to a pier to stare out at the ocean. That's all.

Shirtless, in a hammock on a beach in a tropical climate with an ice cold drink in hand. I Wayne playing on the radio, fishing pole lodged within arms reach in case I get a bite. Not another soul for miles. Not at this moment, at least.
And hay fever is creepy. Lol. Love rural back country, but don't think I could live there, unless I had a short track into a city with all the cultural things I like to have access to.
