but they are comments of NFL fans.

Most of the people commenting on sherman are also NFL fans.

Is you issue the way the media is portraying Sherman because he is black?

as in if he was white and arrogant, he wouldn't be called a thug.

If that is your issue, then I agree. But if it is that he can be arrogant because he is black or because he is emotional, then I disagree.

I want to also add that I didn't see the national news calling him that. He said this was on twitter.

I would like to see where that is on national news.

I have to give him some slack. He understands that he messed up. He also made a correct analysis about the social media comments about him.

the racial component is the most important part of the issue. that's why it got a national reaction and in such a negative way. the same game a guy gets injured and they are worried his career is over but nobody says a peep about that.

mcenroe wasn't villified off of it, he was made a bad boy and got mainstream success. he wasn't labelled a thug like sherman. brock as well. his bad boy image wasn't based on stereotype laced racism. white bad boys aren't associated with criminality.

basketball isn't a sport where collisions are a prerequsite and aren't as high impact as in the nfl or combat sport. you are comparing apples to oranges.

youtube is an unmoderated forum trolled by stormfronters. not really the best gauge. by national news i mean big sports media, it was talked about on espn, mike lupica, the daily news, etc. many of them were calling him a thug.

he says twitter because like most celebs that is were he interacts with ppl and gets his news.

he has a boss, i'm guessing that was the reason for any apology. remember paula deen apologized? anyone who has a boss is controlled by that entity.

i have no issue with him being called arrogant even though i disagree with their being criticism of it. in the context he was in it was acceptable imo.

I have to ask again where is the thug comment. All of these sources no better. Like you said there is a boss. It was only on twitter which is like youtube but without videos.

I'm not saying it didn't happen. I just don't see a source other than your usual sources. ... youtube twitter yahoo

Then you my friend are insanely limited in your concept of what a genius is. If it has no outward tangible function it has no value to you? Interesting

There were numerous articles about the severity of Navorro Bowman's injury, very scary to watch that. Both Lambeer and Shockey were called thugs as well as I have already posted links. In addition, the NHL has for years had to deal with media charges of thuggery with certain players. There have actually been multiple CRIMINAL charges of assault for on-ice incidents, so there are examples of the very definition of criminality with white NHL players.

We will disagree about basketball, I was not attempting to equate football and basketball, but there are hard fouls, screens and charges in every single game you could watch, it is very much a high impact sport, without the padding.

Probably the Detroit Pistons "Bad Boys" teams per below, go to 1:10 to see the announcer loosing his cool in outrage at their tactics, kinda funny in retrospect.

There were times when I acted like that on this forum and look at how people (hypocritically) on here used to react. Can't have it both ways, folks. You can't defend his actions and then get angry at other people who are doing things that are similar to that too.

    https://oliviaacole.wordpress.com/2014/01/20/richard-sherman-thugs-and-black-humanity/

Olivia A. Cole - a white woman, wrote a brilliant article about this and here are some excerpts.

I think the problem (from the perspective of whites and some blacks also) is that it's too easy for the race card to be thrown around or racial tensions to escalate when blacks are in a position of power/success, as seen throughout the President's time in office and when Sarah Palin complained about the President on Dr. King's birthday.

After a huge team win that earns your squad a trip to the SB, it looks ugly to be screaming at a reporter about how you bitched a WR trying to score on you.

I don't like the Seahawks, Sherman in particular.
I respect his bio, but Sherman the football player is always instigating, always trying to start some beef during the game by being a smart ass.

His trying to shake Crabtree's hand after the game was over was a typical Richard Sherman punk move.

It's the same reason Redskins OT Trent Richardson tried to knock him out.

Here he is talking shit to Brady after a win...!

I'm glad Sherman is catching heat because his mouth is outta control.

    No he's not a thug.
But I still can't wait to see Peyton Manning and the Broncos drop 5 TD passes on his punk loud ass.

it will 30 degrees Seattle will pressure manning and if the refs call Denver's pick routes I mean rub routes ( worse than the Utah jazz of the 90's) Sherman will get Peyton at least once , him housing it would be fall down funny, Seattle 34 Denver 24

again physical doesn't mean collision. this is what i mean-
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contact_sport#Full-contact

basketball is physical but the sport itself isn't based on it, in fact the rules encourage avoidance of it.

and as far as the leg story it wasn't a national story to the level of of sherman. that's a fact.

and again the shockeys and lambeer weren't villified for their bad behavior. they were seen as being tough.
    white thug= toughness, heart
    black thug= ghetto, criminal

    it's the same with compliments-
white player- smart, great strategist-mental skills
black athelete- physical, fast, strong, they compare him to an animal-physical skills
