Not surprised. Many of the "Founding Fathers" felt the same way. So does a significant segment of this society, he's just voicing it. Hopefully he becomes an anachronism as time goes on. And the exodus of minority voters from the conservative movement continues... Although, I have to say as a leftist, that I find liberal paternalism just as offensive.
On YouTube they had to find a subserbient Black man to support that clown. Leftist paturnalism may be bad but,so is the enabling of racists by the right.
Hell, if he ran for office in Georgia, South Carolina, or Florida he'd be the fucking front-runner. The actual office that he ran for wouldn't even really matter. I love how a lot of Bundy's defenders are faking outrage and surprise at his comments. The modern-day conservative movement gets it's strongest support from people who think and act just like him.
*bangs head on keyboard* boi is it 2014 or did i just get lost? .... some ppl would better be pulled through what it means, in this case *to be a slave* before they are even allowed to open their darn mouths. so much ignorance is just having me speechless.
I'm with you on this 100%. And I'll go a step further and say that left paternalism may be its own form of racism, but it doesn't include implicit threats and the flourishing of weapons. Here's an interesting blog posting on the response to this yahoo's remarks.
I don't know...because I follow politics and listen to things that politicians actually say, maybe? Because let's be completely real about American history: conservatives in this country have always been about anti-government sentiment ever since the 19th century. You didn't think all those southern states seceded because of taxation, did you? It all goes back to the core belief that large parts (or all of) of federal government can't tell God fearing, freedom loving 'Muricans how to live their lives...and a LOT of it had to do with the fact that they felt that they had the right to own Black people because we were inferior. Whether it was Klansmen fighting integration, or the John Birch Society, or Reagan's "welfare queens," or people like Rand Paul being against the Civil Rights Act, or people who actually question whether the President was smuggled in from Kenya as an infant, or politicians who literally want to legalize discrimination for reasons of "religious freedom," a good number of conservatives are racist and bigoted and if you're a Republican holding or running for office, you know this. Shit, not only do they know this, a lot of their entire electoral strategies depend on it. Does Lee Atwater ring a bell? So yeah, long story short that's how I know that all of those conservatives who are just *so* shocked by what Cliven Bundy said are faking it. They have no problem with Bundy's beliefs, they're just pissed that he didn't keep his beliefs to himself.
wow....so you believe that a person who calls militias (white supremists) that these politicians didnt see this coming. this is the same GOP who said this before that slavery was good for blacks.look up marriage pledge.... michelle bachman...slavery. i never seen a blackman (alledge black man) make excuses for this kind of shit.
That's pretty much it. What was okay to say out during the 50s and 60s is verboten to say out loud in the present day. He broke that rule. My bad, didn't mean to come across like I was yelling at someone but your comments bring up another bothersome issue: despite him being racist sack of shit, he was wrong because he didn't pay his grazing fees the way that he was supposed to. A lot of prominent Republicans came to his defense without really knowing just how wrong he was. Once they heard that he hated the government and was about to come out guns blazing they jumped to his defense because he was standing up to "federal overreach" or whatever the fuck it is the right is calling it these days. And I'm not saying that all conservatives are automatically racists by definition but this nation's history speaks for itself.
True Since1980. Most conservatives are just mad at him for being upfront about it not only once but, twice. History shows that conservatives always enable the White racist. They did nothing during Jim Crow and Apartheid in South Africa in fact those conservatives even hang with those racist White government officials there without remorse. Here is this rancher who ran up a million dollar bill on grazing and bitching about the 'Negroes' in North Vegas. Such hypocrisy knows no bounds since he is much more of a welfare 'king' than the Blacks to whom he criticized. Now that he came out the other White conservatives are punking out because of those remarks.
"But" breaks down to the word's intended definition; Before the Underlying Truth. That's what "But" means. If someone uses "but" in their statements, it means that while that person is stating a fact or truth, it is open for interpretation and scutiny.
ST, Bundy is a Conservative, and Sterling is a Democrat. Which shows you that it is what is in a person's heart and character that counts for your life.
Lol, the NAACP agrees with you, that's why they gave that 'ol Blue Dog an award and almost another. Money talks, bullshit walks.
