Hey, I just wanted to say that I think that you are doing a pretty good job. I like the way you advertise the site on the main/front page, you know, with the pictures of white women/black men couples engaging in everyday activity with one another. I also like the way this site has many more features other than just a personals section, or just a message board of forums... but, we need less trolls! Other than that, keep up the good work.
Thanks, but there will always be trolls. Perhaps we can all come up with more effective ways to deal with them. Some other ideas on the drawing board are: - Privacy photos in the personals. Where folks can make their photos viewable by request only. - Splitting off the adult ads and moving them into the "adults only" area. - One username/password for everything on the site (forums, chat, ads, etc.)
It maybe a little tougher to manage, I imagine, since the site may get cluttered up with accounts here and there.
Hopefully it would have the opposite effect. Right now, someone can create a separate login for the forums and a paid membership. Under the new system, they'd just have one login and their permissions would change accordingly -- lettting them in and out of certain areas.
- Blocking paid members from sending more than X amount (probably 20) of responses to personal ads per day. Basically, to stop those who write one response and then emails it to every woman in the personal ads area.
OK, I see what you mean. As I've stated, I wasn't very sure, but I just wanted to see where you were going with it, you know, just to be helpful if I can.
Some other possible ideas... - Automatically thumbnail photos in the forums. If someone posts a large photo in the forums, it will automatically shrink to the size of a thumbnail so it does not distort the width of your screen. This is a module that can be added to this type of forum. - Post rating? Where you can rate posts as to whether you agree or disagree. Similar to what they have in the AOL forums. - "Hot or Not" -- where you can post your own photo and have it rated by visitors to this site.
YES!!!! Will this shrink the size of photos in signatures too? Ha! Ha! I think some folks have done this on their own. I'm sure it would be very popular. You won't see me up there, though.
Excellent idea! Sounds like a good idea as well. The more media interaction, the better. Which is why AOL and Myspace, and facethejury.com do so well. On the flip side, it could mean more interaction with trolls, but that's inevitable anyways.
I would like for the members to be able to interact with each other without any problems. I have attempted to contact some of the female members and would like for a messageboard for both men and female members to contact each other without any problems.
No, we can't do that. That is what the personals are for. We want to keep the disussion and personals separate. Also, the personals/adult areas is what makes money for the site. It would be nice to make this site free, but then who pays for the server, the bandwidth, approves the ads, etc.? Having said that, if anyone wants to be contacted through the forums, all they need to do is to set their email address to be visible in their profile. Then they can be emailed (or instant messaged) directly by anyone who comes to this site -- for free. Perhaps the women who have their emails hidden would rather not be contacted by just anyone.
I think that the post rating is a really good idea webmaster. There are some people (like me) who don't know how to take a compliment, so just having somebody rate my post sounds much easier. And the Hot or Not thing sounds cool for those of us who are brave enough to have our pictures judged.
maybe there is a possibility to add a kind of "chat counter" to the page, similar to the "In total there are [number] users online" note at the bottom of the forum page. Something like: "there are currently [number] users in the chat room" This might be helpful for users interested to chat.
