Good to know. I think sometimes disagreements appear acrimonious when in fact sometimes people merely state their position with a great deal of passion. I applaud people who feel passionate about their beliefs, and who are willing to stick to their guns in the face of opposition, too many people feel everything has to be harmonious and PC all the time IMO. However just because someone disagrees with you, or states a less popular opinion, that doesn't mean they are doing so solely to irritate people, nor does it mean they aren't open-minded. I like to think I'm open-minded, however I do believe what I like and unless someone can present a strong argument for why that isn't a good position to take, I'm going to go right on believing as I do. I don't think that makes me closed-minded, I think it means I'm not an ass kisser, or impressionable. People can work to be agreeable all the time, but honestly it's when divergent points of view are expressed that I think you learn the most, or at the very least you become better informed. As long as folks remain respectful while stating their opinions, I think that is what's important.

I get that, honestly I find women to be capable of far more hostility than men, and some of us are grudge holders. That's one thing I notice about men I've known who get into it with each other, once they settle whatever it is they're right as rain. Women on the other hand will hold onto some petty BS that happened in 1985 and hate you for life. I don't do hate personally, but some folks sure do.

 

I agree. Everyone deserves resspect, even if you disagreewith them.

But we're just talking. I have no beef with Andrae & I'm sure he'll say the same thing. Some people let things linger and carry from thread to thread, but it's not that serious for me. I'm too old for that...lol

No one will agree with everything ANYBODY says. Once people can understand that we'd be much better off as a messageboard/society/country/race. It's good to hear different viewpoints. That's how we grow as a society. :smt109

So very true. It's the close-minded people who think that their opinions are the only ones that matter do a disservice to themselves and to society as a whole.

As far as guys, think of it as a boxing match, MMA or American football. Those guys are trying to kill each other in the ring, but when the fight's over, they're hugging & congratulating each other on a good fight, and even go out for beers afterwards sometimes. Same thing here to an extent.

 

I wasn't worried about you Cannondale, I know my sense of humor isn't always well understood. I think most people on here are real reasonable, everyone has an off day now and then and maybe they're a little more sensitive than usual, but that's life you know. People who follow you from thread to thread giving you crap cause they just can't let go of their issues are sad, but some people are just that childish and petty. Doesn't mean they won't learn though, like you said I'm too old for that crap, I just don't have the time or desire to waste my energy on silly shit.

But on a serious note you're right. I get into it with people on here monthly and some are serious blow outs but every single time I'm willing to move on afterwards. Its just not that ndeep. No one is losing their life or even any money so why the hostility?
