Attempted Assasination on First Black President?

I was just wondering, but do you all think that the world has changed enough to actually allow a black president to be in office without someone making an attempt on his life? I'd love to see Obama run for office, but at the same time, i'm fearful for his life. All it takes is some kkk member to go hide on a rooftop and pull the trigger because there's a black man leading the white house. Do any of you worry about this or am i being too worrisome?

I hope to the gods it will not happen. A black president would be good for America.

As much as I hate to say it, it wouldn't surprise me if an assassination attempt did happen. I can see it in this climate forming in this country of mistrust between the races.

By the way, isn't that Elisabeth Rohm as your sig., Bryant??

It's a matter of when, not if. His own security guard would set him up. All martin wanted was equal rights, and look what they did to him.

Shit, you aren't worrisome; you are aware and realistic. I too have worries about whether America will elect him in the first place, which as of now, is a definite no-no despite what white people tell the pollsters. Do you know what that would mean to many whites? And no, not just Southerners because they're the easy targets for white racism. Other parts of the country are still racist as hell, but it's a bit more subtle. The mere fact that he's even running is boiling up the blood of many racists and they'd be willing to do anything to eliminate him. I really like this man (honestly, he already has MY vote if he gets the nomination) but i really do not want to see him hurt in any way which he will, at least by voters. Whites will swear they'd vote for a black and then either stay home or cross over. Obama is no different and his race (pun intended) will be a factor.

Call me a pessimist, but i can't see white America voting for a black man, at least as long as whites make up 85% of the electorate. If he does win, he better watch his back because they'd be gunning (pun intended) for him. Colin Powell's wife was right as hell when she echoed similar sentiments in 1996. Of course he was more qualified than any Republican since then, but you really think that whites want a black man telling them what to do? Think again.

If Obama really wants to see his old age, he will not run but i say he does whatever makes him happy.

It's a given he will get killed if he ever becomes the president. And he's no fools, he knows that. Just like Martin knew he'd most likely get killed trying to get equal rights. But someone has to sacrifice his lives for others to get equal rights. Correct?

Whether it's our ancestors risking their lives to get equal rights during the slavery times.

    Nelson Mandella.

    Kunta Kinte

    and others.

If it wasn't for Martin, we'd probably still be drinking out of different water fountains. Hopefully years from now I'll be saying "if it wasn't for Obama, we wouldn't have a black president"

If so, his death will be worth it. That's if he's willing to sacrifice his life offcourse.

So my question is, would america rather have a black or female president?

The only way anyone would try to assassinate Obama is if he was Republican. That's way the opposition (lefties) likes to do business. It seems that anytime a black individual takes a side other than the Left, he or she is villified, spit on, and condemned: a venom coming from such a "peace-loving", "equality-loving", and "open-minded" school of thought.

Barrack will be fine. If anything, people will be falling at his feet because their so impressed that he's an educated black man with forward-thinking ideas. I like Obama overall. I would vote for him. But by no means do I want him in office just because he's Black...as some of the country wishes. If there was a choice, I'd rather have someone who can lead and is a visionary.

Yeah, but 95% of the time, they deserve it. And i say this as a former conservative who moved towards the center-left. I do not possess a monopoly of the truth and so just because you happen not to share my ideology does not make you wrong (or right), but i have often wondered why black conservatives still keep trying hard even though only a handful in the black community give a fuck about their message.

One excuse they give is that mainstream media caters to the traditional black leadership, which is unrelentingly liberal in fiscal and social causes. While that might be true, i think it's far more complex than that. There are many reasons why black conservatives are not being listened to. First, they keep repeating the same things white racist conservatives yell. They are only there as attack dogs for the Republican establishment. Ever notice that on Fox News, whenever they want to discuss something (negative) about blacks or when they want to smear a black person who isn't conservative, they often bring a black conservative to do the dirty work for them. And boy, do they do it well?

Most blacks, despite what conservatives (black and white) believe, aren't voting for Democrats because Jesse or Al said they should (i do not recall either man saying anything like that) or because they are too stupid to think for themselves. They do so because their interests are best represented by the Democratic candidates. This isn't to say that the Dems are squeaky clean - they aren't - but i don't recall any contemporary voting against the Voting Rights Act. I do not recall any Democrat calling for an end to affirmative action and "race based quotas" - something these conservative toys highly benefitted from-. You think Sowell, Walter Williams, Jesse Lee Peterson, Clarence Thomas, Michael Steele will all be where they are today if not for the affirmative action policies they took advantage of as the years went by? And they have the nerve to oppose such things.

Blacks vote for Dems because they choose to and that is all there is to it After all, no one asks how come whites overwhelmingly vote Republican.

Here are other reasons why blacks will not, at any time soon, flock to the Republican Party:

    Minimum wage
    Health Care
    Attitudes towards Race Relations
    Attacks on black leaders

Black conservatives do not realize that their positions hurt no one but them. Black Republican candidates know that the black vote is a Herculan task for them and white Republicans..... well, see the Wilder effect. Although, in all fairness, white Democrats do it too but that is another issue. Look at Michael Steele, Lynn Swann and Kenneth Blackwell. Here's why they lost; they failed to pick up large numbers of black voters in cities/states with large black masses. Surely, whites abandoned them (good for them! haha) on election day and blacks never even contemplated voting for their silly asses. The Democratic candidates all took advantage of that and translated into victories for themselves.

So, for those of you expecting a Great Black Republican Hope anytime soon, you had better pack a lunch because it's gonna be a long ride.

Now that right there is why black conservatives are (deservedly) derided.

Black conservatives are not interested in attacking anyone. If anything, they are reacting to hatred and misunderstanding from those who are blindly loyal to the Left. It's the Democrat establishment that has vilified them for presenting a point of view uniquely different (and therefore unacceptable to) from their own. There are tons of racist white liberals who have been baiting Blacks for decades as a means of keeping themselves in power. Part of the left's game is playing with two faces instead of one. Democrats don't care about Blacks...Blacks are pawns to them, nothing more. Ever since the party was conquered by radical liberalism, it has deteriorated into a corrupt and inefficient vehicle of conspiracy theories, propaganda, and mercilessness. Black conservatives, at least the majority of them, believe in the values and principles of the Republican party that ensure the advancement of the individual regardless of race.

Who's going to take responsibility for the negatives that so many people (black or white) bring on themselves? The ones responsible for perpetuating stereotypes and then blaming the "establishment" for keeping them down? It's not about Blacks, it's about a mentality commonly present in Blacks that defeats the will to escape seeing oneself as purely a victim rather than someone who can educate themselves well enough to find the opportunities that can get them to the next level in life.

It doesn't take affirmative action for a Black to advance in life. It takes education, skills, and a host of qualities and abilities and combinations of sorts that are completely independent of skin color. Blacks aren't the only people disadvantaged in this country. Programs centered around the advancement of the Black race have in some cases put up barriers for others to advance. Race based quotas defeat the purpose of establishing a society of equal opportunity because special treatment programs are going around that benefit one race over the other.

Perhaps you haven't been noticing who graces the tv screens during election years, shows up in interviews on the Sunday talk shows, and drives the leftist sentiment in this country and around much of the world...but there is no overwhelming Republican voting by whites. If anything, white liberals are far outnumbering white conservatives nowadays. The Democratic party is dominated by whites, it just happens to hold the majority of Black support as well ("why" is completely debatable).

Their positions are not hurting anything or anyone. The idea of betrayal is simply a frivolous notion born from the fact that these individuals are choosing to march to the beat of a drummer that is bringing them forward as individuals and as Americans. Their skin color doesn't define them, and they know it doesn't have to and shouldn't define them in order for them to prosper in this world. I will say that Republicans overall should make a stronger effort to reach out to the Black community, but in fresh ways that will allow the great principles and missions of the party to shine through and present solutions to the tough problems.

The two-fold problem is that conservatives are not reaching out uniquely and aggressively enough and Blacks are stubbornly refusing to give the message (a great message) a chance even when someone goes above and beyond to reach out. The Democratic Party cannot afford to lose the Black majority vote because the continued perils of the black community rather than what could be its triumphs are what help leverage the party's strength.

To be honest, if Obama is elected, he'll be fine. He already has the "Acceptable" POV's on the issues..which means he's already in the pocket of the REAL power brokers of the world. Now if Ron Paul gets elected...they'll almost certainly whack him.

I think that Obama will do just fine as President. Racism does exist, and maybe to a certain degree always will. This country as a whole is ready for a change though. Change is inevitable. Now don't get me wrong, I believe that some don't want to see him or Clinton in that position, but there is also a high percentage that won't care. Picture this: We are all the same race. Discrimination will still exist. By the way look at the war in Iraq and our current President. If he's still hanging in there then I definitely think that Obama will do just fine!!!
