The study was about charitable giving and it's correlation to one's own wealth. It wasn't about some Liberal/Conservative dynamic.

Biden was extrapolating from studies that found Romney could not reach his goals of cutting taxes 20 percent for everyone and balancing the budget without ending or limiting some tax breaks that benefit the middle class. The assumption is that some of that tax burden would fall on Social Security benefits.

Romney has been unwilling to specify what deductions he would seek to eliminate, which leaves room for the Obama campaign to speculate about the impact on Social Security beneficiaries. But Romney has never said that he would raise taxes on Social Security benefits, and he has promised that he will not reduce Social Security benefits for current retirees.

But what about this:

So, they add how many government jobs?? And manufacturing jobs fell again?

I think the numbers aren't tellling the whole story.

How many were FT, permanent hires? How many people have just given up looking for work, which would also bring the unemployment numbers down.

And this is awfully convenient:

Employment for July and August was revised to show 86,000 more jobs created than previous reported.

Hmmm...how were 86,000 jobs missed???

And how many jobs are seasonal retail jobs? The article I read didn't break down any of the numbers.

So basically if its bad its his fault and if its good its bs. Got it lol. Unemployment has been gauged the same way for decades but now that Obama is in office we have to go through it with a fine comb. According to the critics he can do no right but I'll take him over Romney a million times over.

 

If it were Romney in office my ass would be on a bread line.

Dude's business practices and ethics coincide with profits over people every time. He does it in hopes that wealthy people's interests will line up with the country's interest. As a president I want someone who cares about the people as well as the economy. Making things more favorable business doesn't translate it being more favorable for everyone

 

We were headed for a depression caused by the Republicans and even when shit was crashing and burning your boy McCain said the economy was still strong. It goes to show how out of touch that party is and we would have suffered greatly for that shit while those who did all the damage would sit back laughing on their piles of money.

 

It doesn't matter who is in office, I would still be questioning the numbers. I just find it awfully convenient that two days after Obama does poorly in a debate about the economy, they find a way to magically find 86,000 jobs from July and August and unemployment dips below 8%.

I just think the timing of this announcement is suspect.

I look for what's behind the curtain and I've never given whatever President is in office at the time a "free pass" whether I voted for him or not.

 

The economy does not fall squarely on the shoulders of Bush and the Republicans. Clinton had a hand in it as well.
