I have to admit that I have seen this happen where I live (South Dakota). Not the most progressive of states! We had a club that primarily played rap, R&B, and hip-hop because of the age group of people attending the club. So of course, this was THE place to be in Sioux Falls for anyone of the black culture....and considering the only other clubs here played mostly country or hard rock/metal, understandable. But when the black crowd overwhelmingly exceeded the white crowd, the owner of the club suddenly implemented dress codes...which included such idiotic limits as no hats cocked to the side or back, no t-shirts with slogans, shirts must be collared, no red or blue, no bandannas, etc. In my opinion, the gender discrimination was just as terrible, as there were no dress codes implemented for the masses of scantily clad women attending this club. Really, any of the aforementioned clothing styles are simply that, style, but the specificity of the dress code towards black men in general was atrocious and completely uncalled for, especially since the amount of white men pulled out of the club for fights or acting disorderly far exceeded the number black men. The club closed down within a year following the implementation of this dress code. Just goes to prove...money is money no matter what style of clothes the person who's spending it is wearing.
There was a club in South Dakota where blacks outnumbered whites...wow...never would have thought. The problem is that many whites want to avoid gang conflicts and of course they want to keep the WW/BM mingling down as much as possible. These club owners aren't able to recognize "urban attire" from "gang related dress." In places with heavier black populations....the people know what to look for so the rules aren't as arbitrary (most of the time).
Where I am at the dress code is more lenient except when you go to downtown kansas city or the inner city.I think the dress code would be more acceptable in clubs to where a diverse mixture of people go to. It seems like some white club owners just put these dress codes and stop playing certain music just because they don't want the black men mingling with the white women. Changing the music may stop some black men from going there but not all black men from going there. I don't think you are ever going to see black men stop from mingling and getting with the white women because many white women don't like for white men to tell them what kind of men they can talk to or have sex with period. You are never going to stop any white woman or any woman from talking to black men just like you won't stop many black women from talking to white men. It seems like the mainly all-white clubs I go to I see many black women getting attention from the white men because black men are too busy trying to get with the white women.
this is weird cos where i live this bar plays loads of urban hip hop etc, the biggest customers are black men, one day when we went there was a sign in the window sayning NO MORE RNB MUSIC TO BE PLAYED, i was like why??? Then when the place was empty u heard everyone from 2pac to biggie to John bloody legend!! Marketing is a strategy!!
Personally im ALL for the dress codes... Keeps the "niggas" out... Alot of NYC clubs have that and its great... No baggy ass jeans, No timbs or sneakers, No hats, No hoodies and bandanas and all the other garbage POS thugs like to wear. THOSE are the places that tend to have the best quality of WW... As that as changing the music its rediculous because if theres squaredancing music playing and theres a fine ass WW out on the floor you better be sure ill be out there trying to keep up :lol:
Changing the music won't change the customers, nor the behavior of the customers that frequent these establishments, so the very idea of doing so is simply retarded at best, not to mention racist in undertone. Hey, maybe Heavy Metal is a better choice! :mrgreen: :roll:
I know alot of brothers who love metal,I don't think timbs and baggy pants is just a black thing, I see alot of folks dressed like that white,Spanish and so on. Remember you can't judge a book by it's cover,dude could be in a suit and still be an asshole.
where Im from this happens or they have rules that control black people. No white tees, no tims, no baggy pants, or they put on rave music for crowd control.
thank you Sar, someone said I wasnt black because of what I listen to, who my friends are and what I do with my time. that has nothing to do with race or color, but they often grasp at straws to insult when they cant have a conversation
Well I went dancing tonight and I didn't see too many black guys closing the place. In fact, the 3 or 4 that were there must've had a lot of game cuz they left with some girls before one of them even had a chance to approach me.
