Radical Islam cannot bring out the western world. What the western world has not being able to figure out yet is how to deal and conclusively end radical Islam. It might take a generation or two to figure this out. And not only that, radical Islam like political ideologies would have exhausted its expiration date.

For policy makers in the west, it makes sense to disengage with radical governments around the world and engage with countries that are willing to embrace western values. Equally, Immigration laws should seek to accommodate immigrants that want to embrace western ideas and its values.

I love that line and I do embrace it, however there was another line in Godfather#1 "Blood is a big expense". One can keep their enemies closer, but at the same time not expend much in blood and treasure. A smart leader knows this and not get mired in the affairs of others. The founding fathers of this country warned about getting entangled in alliances and affairs of other nations. I take this position, keep them close, but at arms length to not hit you with a close blow. Yes, we live in a interdependent world, but we do not need to be stupid and be used by others to project their power over or against us. We need to be smart about how to use our power whether political , economics, technological, etc. Problem for this country we have too many stupid people running this government who do not know what the fuck they are doing. Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat the stupid mistakes of the past. The insanity of those who work for us in the government is that they keep repeating the same failed steps to get the same results and do not learn from it.

AFAIK, the Israelis have been the only ones flying manned sorties into Iran and hitting hard targets. Although, I think the US launched some cyber attacks against Iran which was believed to have set back their nuclear program a bit. These guys, the Iranians, are bonafied players in the nuclear game, unlike Iraq which never had them. Fuck, the UN even told us they didn't.

I do not believe Radical islam will take over the west, as which they are now, the will become more of a nusaiance and continue to agitate the west, however at some point i do believe that mighty Isreal,Saudi and other western allies will eventually be destroyed and i do see the middle east will change significantly as we see now in Afganistan my opinion the U.S has not defeated the taliban nor did the soviets back in the day so these radicals will continue to antagonize and agaitate but not a take over in the west i do believe Allah will destroy the U.S Himself before the radical islam as did Allah destroyed sodom and gomorrah which is now the dead sea however the west will feel the wrath of islamic radicalism but destroyed. No!

THe reason the Soviets and the U.S. never really defeated the Taliban is because total victory, the complete annihilation of your enemy, hasn't been a part of modern Western warfare strategy since WWII because of the international political fallout.

We're too culturally different from the Afghanis for them to accept American rule in their country. But you see how readily they embrace foreign Arab mujaheddin fighters into their country as 'brothers'.

If our goal hadn't been to win the hearts and minds of the Afghans as we simultaneously defeated the Taliban, I think we'd see an entirely different outcome in Afghanistan.

Colin Powell sent close to half a million troops to Iraq during the first Gulf War.
It's the only way you prevent militants from planting roadside IEDs or forming insurgent militias. You need American boots on the ground so thick that we're literally like cockroaches; we are EVERYWHERE in theater and there's nowhere to hide from us. There are no safe havens.

It's cold blooded to say, but I think the goal should have been we don't leave until we've sealed the Afghan borders, killed every Taliban fighter/sympathizer and anyone with the potential to become a member of the Taliban in the near future.

A short war with overwhelming force and troops numbers in the hundreds of thousands IMO is the only way to defeat fanatics like the Taliban.
