Damn that's just plain sad but it's so true. It's time for state schools to invest into their residents since the private institutions are now corporatist snobs only catering to the wealthy.
I'm more pessimistic than most about where these forecasts lead... Every news report has become a sound byte without tying things into the bigger picture, which is even more bleak... Simply stated, in the name of profit, corporations are bankrupting the world. If job prospects for college graduates are dismal and job prospects for the baby boomers are even more dismal, who does that leave to employ? The working "Tweeners"? http://www.examiner.com/baby-boomer-in-national/baby-boomer-unemployment-grows Debt has become the bear on everybody's back, unless one is born with the proverbial platinum spoon (silver no longer gets any props)... We've been hyped into buying into the "Dream" - the nice job, the nice house, the nice car...etc., while corporate america/world has surreptitiously chipped away at all but the mega wealthy. As they raise the stakes and cut away the excess in the name of earnings, more people will feel the heat. The bigger picture has glossed over corporations dipping into 401Ks, the government spending Social Security funds to cover other borrowed money, pork added to legislation, corporate downsizing because profit projections fell short a million $, and outsourcing or the migration of manufacturing elsewhere... The bigger picture won't reach home until it hits home...
