Willie Brown, the former mayor of San Francisco and former California Speaker of the House said of Adam Clayton Powell Jr:He thought the system would protect him. Brown is like Powell flamboyant and powerful but unlike Powell he did not get in trouble and avoided those pitfalls that took the careers of other Black Pols. Charlie Rangel should had learned from Brown as well.

Who are the people in that Ethics council? What are their names and backgrounds?

So far I have found the Gene Green on the panel. who is the chair. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Green

He is also a friend of Rangel. This will not go down as bad as people are thinking. You have to remember a lot of people in congress have problems filling out their tax forms. The reason he is being paraded like this is because he is head member of the committee that makes the tax laws. We expect better out of him. Question is If the head member and geithner can't fill out their taxes correctly, what hope is there for the average person.:smt091

I am going to keep quiet about maxine. I am clearly bias as I am for rangel. I think rangel did make an honest mistake. Maxine is another story. I never thought she was competent enough to be a congress woman but I know how it goes in gerrymandered race districts. I still don't think she will lose her job even though I would prefer some other black person have her job.

Well, William Jefferson got re-elected the very year he was first charged with corruption. Hell, Marion Barry got caught smoking crack, went to prison!!!!!, came out and still got elected to office. It's very unfortunate, but many black Americans will eat shit as long as it's served by someone with a black face.
