Another historic moment for the USA. Haters... put down the hater-aid and enjoy the friggen' moment. http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/...chael-steele-is-republican-national-chairman/
Obviously a disingenuous way of making the GOP look more inclusive when, in fact, it isn't. This produces nothing in terms of pride for me, but to each their own.
I agree. Why did Michael Steele coincidentally come right after Obama's nomination? Convenient timing? Is he even considered "black" as in african/carribean descent? Maybe I'm wrong but he looks Indian. Hopefully he does bring more diversity to the party. They could sure use it.
yeah, he does look Indian but that does not negate the fact that he is blk. Blk folks come in so many shades and so many facial features ....
I concur. This seems to me the classic case of putting lipstick on a pig and wanting to call it something else. Please! Let's call a spade a spade.
Sorry, but had to pull out the Hater-Aid. The NEW Republican Party Chairman bused homeless people from Philadelphia to pass out flyers stating that Michael Steele was a Democrat to confused black voters in Maryland. Unfortunate that liberals automatically dismiss Steele as a token without evaluating his credentials. It is a form of prejudice to assume that all blacks must think in liberal terms. Anyone who follows politics knows he has been on the national scene for many years and is a logical choice for the job. His success is something to be lauded for sure.
First off they didn't let us even see the "flyer" in this video, and we know that absolutely EVERY THING we see on You-Tube is the TRUTH!!
Taking a glance at his credentials shows he is a logical choice: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/republicans "Lt Gov. Steele became the first black candidate elected to statewide office in Maryland in 2002, and he made an unsuccessful Senate run in 2006. The former chairman of the Maryland Republican Party currently serves as chairman of GOPAC, an organization that recruits and trains Republican political candidates, and in that role he has been a frequent presence on the talk show circuit.
I don't know why, but I honestly feel as if someone is blatantly trying to insult my intelligence. And that's all I have to say about this subject. Although it is pretty funny if you really think about it.:smt042
I've got one more point... I now see how many women around the country felt when John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running-mate during his campaign. This is just downright hilarious.:smt042
What's even funnier is all the house negroes rushing to defend the choice. PROPPING UP A TOKEN IS NOT PROGRESS
I am just curious how the Republican party will recruit more blacks in their party? If the GOP can get 25% of African-American in Mr. Steele 4 year term it would be a resounding success. The question is . . . How would they go about it?
They honestly can't do it. It goes against 45 years of Republican dogma. One Republican congresswoman (forget her name, help me out) just recently on Hardball blamed Blacks for the subprime crisis. This is their default mode, demonize and blame the "other." This is why Latins turned to Obama this election cycle, because Republicans were hostile on immigration rights. You can't do that, then turn right around and try to be "inclusive." People see a token a mile away. PEOPLE WITH SENSE ANYWAY
How about this article? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/12/AR2006111201084.html
I like Mr. Steele. If he can convince me that there is a better alternative to what the Democrats can give me then I will listen to what he has to say. Cut my taxes then we talk.
