sadly though, people don't want to look at issues...they are just blinded by party affiliation and assume that candidates are automatically going to support/oppose issues that the voter believes they should. it's unfortunate. nothing more dangerous than an uneducated voter. :smt009

 

I have never understood this insane logic. (Im not calling you guys...and ladies insane, just the logic you employ to vote on the so-call "issuses."

So if a particular party does a world of evil...when just about 90% of their ideas hurt the average american, but they say, "we are also pro-life and believe their should be no restrictions on the 2nd amendment, people should be compelled to vote for them because they are strict pro-lifers or nra members?...

Your logic would be sound if these same people you voted for used that same type of logic...in that they voted on issues. But they dont. Politicians and the ultimate sheep. They vote whichever way is most likely to get them re-elected or what ever is "most popular" with their consituents. (Notice I said most popular and not best or socially responsible, which is why politicians vote against civil rights bills, education, and environmental protection laws.)

You may let them pull the okie-doke on you, but Im not falling for the banana-in-the-tailpipe.

thats why i vote on the issues, not just the second amendment issues, which as other constitutional rights i do hold up, i also go for the economic issues which are important to me and my family, the issues of the court, issues of taxes, issues, of safety and crime, issues of education, issues of the war and the military, issues of family, issues of illegal immigration adn banorder security, issanues of religious liberty, issues of foreign policy, and any number if issues important to me.

i am pro life and 2nd amendment issue are pertinent to that, self defense is one.

anyway, i do see your point. i'm not saying that everybody should always vote 100% issue-based...but people don't even seem to look at issues across the board anymore. like i said earlier, people are blinded by party affiliation most of the time...and don't give any of "the issues" a second thought. i'm only saying, that i think it would be nice if people would at least research candidates/issues before they go to the polls. voting blindly, or voting for someone b/c it's the "popular" thing to do, is just ignorant. and sadly, this happens way too often.

 

T-reed and s-chic, your still applying logic and reason to an illogical situation. How can you vote for someone based on issues when they dont do the same?

S-chic, you say that voters are dangerous who vote based on a party and not on issues...so would that same logic apply to these politicians (making them equally dangerous) who do the same?

 

i can't help but apply logic...it's just my nature, lol.

and i don't think i said it was dangerous to NOT vote on issues. if i did, what i meant to say was it's dangerous to vote on party affiliation alone. and yes, i guess based on my "logic" it would make the politicians just as dangerous as the voters.

i definitely don't have the answers...and i have no clue where to start....my only point is that people need to educate themselves before they vote - bottom line.

i vote the issues that concern me, no politicians has one hundred percent of anything right, so i dont vote necessarily for the person, but for the views most held by that person and that party.

like for me, McCain doesnt really answer all of the issues that concern me but about 75% of them. Clinton 0% and Obama 0%

i dont vote for anyone else but for the candidate closest to the issues that concern me. If it illogical to another person, i say, so be it, i am not voting for them, i am voting for me and what i think will do the best for my country.

and i expect others to do the same for themselves, however logical or reasonable. nothing logical for me about the other candidates, but i am not here to make their minds up for the issues, as i dont know the issues that may concern say mr jellybird. nor do i personally care. I dont know him

They were pretty tough, thanks for asking. Two of them were so hard they were open-book. But I still made the dean's list.

glad finals went well. i'm so glad those days are over for me. i got into gradschool last fall, but turned it down b/c i was so burnt out. i'm still flirting with the idea of a master's degree, but not any time soon. yay for the dean's list!! :wink:

yes, i am back in g'ville...go gators, lol! actually, i'm not a gator fan, but now that i'm working for UF, i guess i have no choice. the move went well - it's so tiring though. we are still unpacking and trying to get settled in...so, that will probably take a couple of weeks...blah! :? it's nice to be back on the boards...i was starting to have withdrawal symptoms, lol.
