kudos. rupert murdoch alone owns like 35% of the media outlets in america, and AOL/Time Warner owns the rest, which is headed by Richard Parsons, a Republican. And numerous other Republicans/conservatives sit on the board as well.

so this media bias thing is bullshit to me.

I don't read much non fiction, last non fiction book was Anne Applebaums (i think) GULAG. Scary, very good. Right now I have Games People Play by Eric Berne (non fiction) and The Culture of Narcissism, american life in an age of diminishing expectations by christopher lash lying around waiting for me.. Recent fiction is Map for lost lovers (i think its called in english) by Nadeem Aslam, The girls from riyad, can't remember who wrote that.. Neil Gaimans Coraline and American Gods and some swedish fiction as well..
I'm a sucker for poetry aswell, but mostly read swedish poets.. I'm gonna read Ezra Pound though and some beatpoets...
Any good poets lying around to tip me about?

I suggest Comte de Lautreamont (Maldoror) if you haven't already read him. Fantastic surrealist trip. It's a prose poem.

Yes there is bias! Not so much against republicans, as against anything traditional, and Christian. :smt068

Americans do Read Books, I read at least 1 per month, Just remember, garbage in garbage out. It's not the reading that makes people intelligent, it's the content of what they actually allow in their brain.

I don't read books that try to generalize any population, I don't read fiction unless I know it is based on some true historical issue, and I do read a lot of very informative stuff. But I NEVER take what I read as the ultimate authority on any subject, unless it's straight from the BIBLE!

What ever idiot said that 60% of American adults have never read a book in their life, did some kind of a pole where the people poled weren't honest. If they are adults, and have actually been through at least the 8th grade, they have read at least one book.

he's a moderate-to-liberal Republican, he worked for fmr Gov and Vice President Nelson Rockefeller in the 60s and 70s, and with Rudy Giuliani in the Justice Department and in his tenure as mayor.

    Stating the obvious!

Offcourse! Yes! Ja!, but the democrats will never have the guts to admit that the Democrat Owned Media has been biased to themselves....lol:rolleyes:

The way I see it if you have people like Oprah(Most powerfull media prophet had Obama on her show, twice!), then the Hollywood Elie who are the VIP friends of the mayor media bosses.

I personally don't see any media bias against Republicans. There is obvious bias toward certain issues, including obvious bias during the Presidential race, when the media was rooting for close races.

If there is any bias going on, it is geared against the Democrats, especially in radio.

Mike if you live in the triangle you know the ones who dissed Obama like Limbaugh,Hannity,Levine, and LaMave. There is no diversity on talk radio.

People are absolutely pissed over Katrina, Iraq, the failure to capture Bin Laden, and the worst economy since the depression. People love to focus on the Black population of New Orleans with Katrina. The untold story was the White folks that died in the rural areas of Louisiana and Mississippi

Like it or not, it's who is in charge of the White House that ALWAYS takes the blame when this crap happens. Some people are starting to connect the dots and, after watching the incompetence of the last eight years, are beginning to wonder if 9/11 was just another Bush blunder.

The problem is not the media. It's guys at Fort Bragg (not just Black men, but good ol' boys as well) that question what the hell we're doing in Iraq and why are we still there.

When the Republican party loses the "Bubbas" of the world, White southerners that normally support the party no matter what, and a good chunk of Evangelicals, the problem is NOT the media.

The problem is the Republican party.

And that is one reason why Obama won Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Indiana and almost Georgia (losing it by just 5% points).

    Democrats NEVER win these states.

BTW, the stupid "Obama magic Negro" song that was produced by the Republican party is only making matters much worse.

Yes, most White people hate it.

In response to whether or not I stay in the Triangle, yes. 680 AM sucks, and it's not just the obvious conservative bias it has. It's lousy in local news coverage. That is one of the reasons why I have satellite radio.
