Some Black people have a habit of blaming others for their situation. While I do believe slavery and racism still effects our community today we have too many opportunities out there to better ourselves. I'm glad she said it. I could not agree with her anymore.

In the 21st century, there's more that a Black man CAN do, than some things he can't, simply because of his race.

Michelle didn't get through Princeton undergrad and Harvard Law by feeling sorry for herself.

    I completely agree.

It starts with us as individuals. Ain't shit free in life so get your ass out there and do something. You can start with getting a degree.

Secondly, stick around to raise your kids and teach them how to be functioning adults in society that produce and create.

Stopped givin' a shit about fools and their slave mentality a long time ago. Who better to tell them mufuckas that shit than Obama's wife.

Wonder how many people are gonna accept what she said because they know it was right, or if they accept it just because it's Obama's wife, and wanna remain on the Obama bandwagon. Either way, big ups to Michelle.

I could do without the BET, but yeah, 10 years ago, I never would've expected this.

People used to tell me my ass would never see someone of color in there. If anything, they were expecting a Hispanic before Obama, just because of the way those mofos are breeding and border jumping.

Good for the 1st Lady to say that. The NAACP has been doing a lot of racebaiting as of late and its beyond annoying.

I've never blamed any of my problems on "the white man" and never will. For the most part, I control my own destiny and its not healthy to blame others for your problems.

Let's be real, there's still racism out here. But we might as well be Martians if we tried to compare the world we live in to that of our grandparents or great grandparents.

If you're willing to work hard and get your degree(s), the world is your oyster.

The NAACP has been jockriding latinos and "people of color" more than anything they're doing for Black people.

Our grandparents had money that was real and only had whites to deal with...now we have worthless monopoly money..globalization...and a wide-open border.

If our grandparents went on strike at least mofos took notice...today....that won't work because NOBODY NEEDS OUR LABOR...MONEY..OR VOTES.

The NAACP is probably the most non-controversial civil rights organization in the U.S.
Mostly they provide scholarships for needy candidates. They don't race bait or leap at every and any opportunity to promote themselves in the media.

Black folks pretend organizations like the NAACP are irrelevant at their own peril.

And the buying power of my grandparents dollars, what little they were, were useless because they couldn't spend their money how and where they chose, because of segregation and unequal protection under the Constitution.

Don't show what little you know about the NAACP by talking some ignorant bullshit.

    'Jockriding latinos'??? WTF?
