Limbaugh: Obama, Sotomayor Are "Reverse Racists"

All kidding aside please enlighten me as to the appeal of Ron Paul. I saw him on a few debates and didn't see the hype. Basic Libertarian/far right/third party stuff, i.e. abolish income tax (never happen) and stuff like that. Give me some positives on the man.

 

Ron Paul believes in less government, a lot less than any other Republican or Democrat. He opposes the War of Drugs. He doesn't believe the US should police the world or dictate to other nations. He supports a person's right to own firearms. He only supports legislation that does not conflict with the Constitution.

Anyhoo...the GOP is trying to front as if they plan to aggresively contest her nomination but they can not afford to do that. As it is, they have already lost a large number of young Latinos and it will take a gargantuan (though not impossible because methnks that Latinos can easily be pushed toward the GOP with the 'right' motivation..so to speak) effort to regain any portion of that electorate back to their side. Of course G.W. Bush had success with Latinos but that had more to do with the fact that he came from a large state with a heavy Latino population..so he was accustomed to campaigning for that vote...most of the prominent Republicans that are left come from states with comparatively few Latinos (i.e., Palin, Jindal, Romney, Lindsey Graham etc.)...and they have no vehicle through which they can appeal to Latinos. It is all huff and puff...but that house will not fall down.

 

Thanks, I skimmed those links. The guy's still not for me but to each his own. Run of the mill third party type stuff. Seen it before with LaRouche, Buchanan, Nader and others, a.k.a. people who can never win an election. Some of my druggie friends latched onto him because of his drug stance. But I don't do drugs so I don't care. LOL. I saw some pics on the net that showed him posing with the guys behind racist site. Of course I take it with a grain of salt as it was on the net but it did make me wonder.

 

Ron Paul did some fundraising for a candidate I worked with in a local race.

 

That's good. I wish more Republicans would get behind him. It's a shame that some of the Fox News commentators attack him

 

History will prove Ron Paul right.

A lot of Ron Paul's ideas may seem very fashionable, and are indeed very sound points, but in my opinion, the libertarian's lets-get-rid-of-everything mentality is precisely why their candidates never get any traction.

 

Probably so. I think many people are conditioned to believe that there are only government solutions to the problems we face, and that hampers libertarian-leaning candidates. It's the candidate's job to counter that belief. It's not easy, obviously, but you have to try

 

Though it has been tried before, but, will there ever be a third political party in this country that can hold it's own against the Republican and Democrat parties?

 

No. But the talk now is that moderate Repubs (think William F. Buckley style) want to spin off their own party from the rapidly-failing nutjobs (Limbaugh, etc.). But this is doubtful as well.

 

It feels like watching the Detroit Lions play last season when I look at what has become of the Republicans these days.

 

It's good to see. I've been praying for their downfall for years.

 

Like Stokely Carmichael once said "we need a scorched earth approach".

 

Does anybody notice that the Republicans have been playing the "race-card" a helluva lot lately ever since they have become the minority?
