Why do I have the feeling that Steel will not last long as the RNC leader.

 

It's the only path they could take. If they wanna win back the Congress and the Presidency, they have to tell the voters why the Democrats' ideas are wrong and why their ideas are right

 

You could argue that as the leader of the opposition party it is in his job description to "take on" Obama. Whether or not he has any success doing it is another matter.

If you step back a second, loyalties aside, it is kind of incredible to realize that the leader of each party in the two-party system of the United States of America is a black man.

That's one way of looking at it, but a rather negative way IMO. Steele is not new to the republican party, he was a leading candidate to be the Chairman before Obama even announced that he was running for POTUS.

 

Steele was disinvited to speak at the very CPAC conference where Limbaugh made his infamous remarks. Every other chairman of the RNC has spoken there. Steele has even kowtowed to Limbaugh, a man nobody's ever voted for. How long can Steele remain a token?

Precisely and only one of them was elected by the will of the American people, rather than through a conference of party politicos looking to balance the election of America's first black president with a fucking gimmick. Had it been Hillary who took power, we'd be seeing a female head of the RNC and she'd be just as irrelevant.

Read some of the comments J C Watts said about the republican party. If you do, you'd realize Steele is nothing but a token and that is all he'll ever be in that party. J C Watts at one time was considered the most powerful black man in the republican party.

Black men like Steele, Clarence Thomas and many others who are dead and some who aren't even born yet will ALWAYS be available to be used by unsrupulous politicians. How does that famous line go, "There's a sucker born EVERY minute".

 

I like JC Watts and had the pleasure of meeting him. He would have also made a great chairman, and a logical one because he held high office in the party within the House at one time. Had he been appointed you guys would have called him a token as well.

The reason why your party is in shambles, with a declining membership, is because you let the morally and intellectually bankrupt Bush administration run it into the ground for eight years. If you want to see a revitalization, repudiate his policies and tell Dick Cheney to shut the fuck up.

 

As a member of a republican PAC, there is a lot of truth in the points being made here. If the Republicans really want to rebuild, then we have to start truly living up to the "big tent" mindset, not just giving it lip service. Stop attacking democrats as people and focus on ideas and solutions, viable solutions to the multi-faceted problems we are facing as a nation.
There are logical and intelligent minority republicans who care deeply about not only their culture but America as a whole, but we need a lot more to offset the Ward Connerly nut-jobs and others like him who give minority republicans a bad name and perpetuate the "uncle tom" stereotype.

 

Rumours of the death of the Republican party are greatly exagerrated. After all, 5 out of the last 8 Presidential elections have gone to republicans. The pendulum has clearly swung to the left, but it will surely swing back.

In several years many of you will be surprised as many of the Bush administration's accomplisments are acknowledged by historians, just as many who remember the Reagan administration and the hatred liberals had for him are now seeing him regarded by many as one of our best ever presidents.

Just as the democrats did, the GOP will take a hard look at themselves while out of the WH to see how they can improve, and just like the democrats, they will eventually come back while staying true to their core policies.

The two-party system works.

 

Whether black men all think alike or not, EVERYONE should to be respected.

JC Watts would NEVER have been appointed and when he realized that HE left the party. I give him respect only for eventually seeing the truth and decided not to be a part of it.

Wasn't he chairman at one time of one of the committees and the members made a decision WITHOUT him knowing or being consulted about it??? Total disrespect, you are the chairman of a committee and decisions are being made without YOU being in the loop???

No matter how you think, NO ONE should stand being disrespected. Glad JC Watts thought so also.
