For those of you living in Georgia I wanted to invite you all to our annual Loving Day Event. http://www.facebook.com/events/353426558106090
Loving Day celebrates the legalization of interracial marriage in America. The event is celebrated all over the nation and has even spread to other countries. You can visit lovingday.org for lots of information. This event in my town. I'm the host. I have lined up performers and speakers. We are giving away free food and have inflatables and the fire safety house for the kids. This is a family event and everyone is invited. While there will be alot interracial families come out there will also be monoracial families too.
That's the reason I started having events myself. I wanted to celebrate with my community and there was none already.
Last year is was much smaller than it will be this year. It was a simple picnic where me and my husband served hot dogs and hamburgers. We also played games like field day games. We had about 50 ppl there. But we had a great time. The pictures taken were only pictures taken from ppls phones. This year though I will have a photographer. This event will be alot larger. Were expecting a min. of 500 ppl. This year we will special guest including TLC's show "The Sisterhood" stars Tara and her husband Brian Lewis. We will have local music talent, a DJ, Inflatables, the fire safety house. Were giving away free hot dog plates and we will have vendors too. Were also doing a blood drive and a bone marrow drive. But you can check out our site for last years pictures. https://www.facebook.com/lovingdaygriffin/photos_stream
This sounds so great! Kudos to you for putting so much effort into it - I hope it's very well attended. Who knows how big this could get?! That would be exciting!
