I don't know who this guy is (will do some research), however excusing a thinking and autonomous adult for inappropriate behaviour because of arbitrary conditions surrounding their life is not acceptable. People change their opinions every day. If he wanted to alter his view, he could do so. The problem isn't the generation he was brought up in, but obviously his limited ability to think for himself and move with the times (based on what people are saying). No-one gets or deserves a get out of jail free card because of their circumstances.
