Nancy Pelosi: CIA Lied To Me

Regardless of what is going on with Pelosi (and you're right roacha, this is a diversion), this is quite a problem. When the CIA came up with this idea they briefed Defense, State, the House, the Senate, the Natl Sec Adviser and the White House.

No one objected so there is plenty of blame to go around for implementing these policies. Obama seems to want to just move on and discontinue the policy.

The person I have the most respect for is Dick Cheney. At least he is standing up and saying, "Hell yeah I approved it, and I'd do it again. We should continue to do it because it saved lives."

 

I have to reluctantly agree to this.......
Regardless of what my philosophy is about the whole issue - Its so tireding (sp?) to hear these people backtracking (its offensive to the American peoples intelligence)... at least stand for what you were a part of.

 

I disagree with Cheney, but you're correct. He's a true believer in it.

 

Princess Pelosi need to step down until an investigation is done fully on what she knew and when she knew it. This woman has lost credibility. She said the CIA lied, they are going to get even with her ass. They probably have volumes on her.

 

Weakness, fear and lack of political capital on the part of the entire Democratic party. Do you remember the hysteria that was brewing in this country from September 12, 2001 through the run up to the Iraq war? At the time, it was almost impossible to challenge the Bush administration on national security without being shouted down.

 

Let me ask you a question? If you think that Pelosi should step down from her position as Speaker because CIA agents (who were already caught lying about briefing another member of congress on this subject) claimed to have briefed her on one occasion about "enhanced interrogation techniques" a month after they had already used them on Abu Zabaydah according to their records, what do you think should happen to the people who devised, authorized and implemented said techniques and ordered their use? And exactly what underlying crime should Pelosi be investigated for? If she knew, at worst she's guilty of inaction and/or cowardice at the time of the briefing and political opportunism at present. Those are unfortunate character defects which afflict most members of Congress, but they're not grounds for her losing her position as leader of the House.

What you describe as hysteria is what others would call a prudent response to a grave threat. That's what happens when the country is attacked in the unprecedented manner that occurred. What Pelosi and others are largely doing is Monday Morning Quarterbacking.

Since she lacked the fortitude to sound off back in 2002 that is her own shortcoming that she should live with.

 

I respect the fact that as VP of the US he took his job seriously and did everything necessary to defend the US, and it worked. I also like the way he continues to speak out now and defend the actions of the Bush Administration. Barack Obama was wise enough to take his advice to the agony of liberals:

I know Sop, that is a provocative thought, even in conservative circles. I've been a Cheney fan since he was SecDef for Bush 41. I just like his no-nonsense style. Liberals probably hoped he would die of a heart attack back during Bush's first term, now here he is after the election still giving 'em hell.

The only folks who would hate seeing Cheney take the WH worse than our own liberals would be the enemies of our country. Life would suck for them.

I realize that. Have a good laugh on me.

 

It seems to me that it's the CIA which isn't being entirely forthcoming. Leon Panetta, one day after admitting the CIA statements are ambiguous, did a complete 180 to curry favor with the insiders at Langley.

I'm not saying Pelosi is completely in the clean here, but if anything, we ought to be focusing on what the CIA did or didn't do.

 

This is the CIA we're talking about.

How can you expect professional international spies to be honest?
