Piers Morgan's Scathing Rebuke of the President

A slapdash Secret Service detail isn't what's wrong with the White House - the real scandal is a President who is so complacent about protecting Americans

President Obama this week committed professional suicide.

Let me explain.

There is a theory in politics that once a leader has fired 50 or more people from his or her administration, he or she is finished.

The reason being that by creating so many enemies ‘outside the tent’, the tent itself becomes too deluged with poisonous bile to avoid sinking into a quagmire of back-stabbing ignominy.

Obama went a lot further than firing 50 people.

He managed to single-handedly alienate 200,000 employees in the American intelligence agencies by going on 60 Minutes and ruthlessly chucking them all under a bus over the rise of terror group ISIS.
‘James Clapper (Director of National Intelligence) has acknowledged that they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria,’ he said, when asked how ISIS’ influence could have spread so fast.

As Governor Chris Christie pointed out, by saying ‘they’ rather than ‘we’, Obama tried to distance himself from any personal responsibility or accountability for what has been a catastrophic failure to act over the greatest terror threat facing the world since Osama Bin Laden.

A more shameless, reprehensible display of buck-passing it would be hard to find from a sitting President.



And for what purpose?

All that will happen now is that those maligned intelligence agencies will exact cold-blooded revenge on Obama by drip-feeding negative stories about him until he’s gone.

It’s what they do.

The truth is that Obama is the one who underestimated ISIS, plunging his head ostrich-like into the sand and hoping they would go away without having to do anything to actually make them go away.

There were clear, unambiguous public warnings made nearly a year ago in front of the Foreign Affairs Committee that ISIS was on the march in Syria and Iraq.

But perhaps Obama missed them.

Hardly surprising when we discover yesterday that he has only attended 42.1 percent of his Presidential Daily intelligence briefings.

No wonder the Secret Service gets complacent when The Boss exudes complacency from every pore.

Obama prides himself on a ‘leading from behind’ American strategy to confronting global terrorism and the current chaos raging throughout the Middle East.

But refusing to intervene in conflicts like Syria has so far proved to be spectacularly self-defeating.

Far from making America stronger, Obama has made the world’s greatest military power look weak.

So weak that these Jihadist thugs think they can behead American citizens with impunity in glossy snuff movies.

Imagine how emboldened they must have felt when Obama made his ‘heartfelt’ speech about journalist James Foley’s execution, and was then seen laughing and joking on the golf course SEVEN MINUTES later.





Obama has so far played golf 192 times since becoming President.

Even Rory McIlroy would struggle to match such enthusiasm for the game.

But Rory isn’t the Leader of the Free World, and with such a title comes huge responsibility.

The kind of responsibility that Obama seems so keen to shirk.

It’s time he got off the damn golf course, got up to speed with his intelligence briefings and focused on wiping out ISIS.

Before they wipe out more of the people he serves.

This is propaganda and evidence of how racism is played against this president.
You look at his amount of golf he has played and compare it to Dwight Eisenhower who played over 800 rounds. Bill Clinton played more than him. He is actually close to the middle.

People had the same issue with his vacations when he had less vacations than Ronald Reagan.


The intel is a whole different matter. This is the smallest issue out of the whole thing. It isn't why didn't the intel community see it coming. It is why is the president blaming the intel community.

At the end of the day, People should be concerned about if the intel is correct(Iraq war) and not why is the president blaming the community for not getting it right unless of course they told him about it.

 

With the golf thing.. I read that at his current rate at this juncture, he's on pace to out pace them all.

On the IMPORTANT issues, he ALWAYS does pass the buck. He either feigns ignorance and declares he learned about _____ with the rest of America, or it's someone else's fault.

 

Whoever said that is lying.
It took took 6 years to get to 192. now he will get to 800 in 2 years at that rate....pfft

Well said. This "leading from behind" nonsense is just Faux News rhetoric. I do believe President Obama was the one leading the call for airstrikes against Syria, killed Bin Laden, and led the call for sanctions against Russia's aggression. So to his critics, where has he been soft?

As far as the 42% bullshit, that is a classic red herring, "the White House did not comment Tuesday. It said previously that Obama doesn’t feel the need to have a daily in-person briefing, but that he reads his intelligence briefing daily on his secure iPad and often sends emails with followup questions. Some Presidents, such as Ronald Reagan, did not have daily briefings, either. George W. Bush preferred to receive such briefings from a CIA officer.

 

ISIS is a minor league threat, always has been. The real problem with any flavor-of-the-month jihadist group in the Middle East is that after we kill them all, what stands to take their place? Usually the same thing.

The rest of world needs to stop relying on the power of the United States and fix their own problems.

As a sidenote, after reading that piece it's no wonder that American viewers didn't support Piers Morgan at CNN.

 

Isis gain footing because the iraqi prez at the time was dogging sunni thats is one reason they are gaining more support from within iraq.

They are a regional problem just like every other jihadist group.
Do people really think our U.S. intel predicted if we didn't stop ISIL a couple years ago, they would defeat the Iraqi army in the north(??) and claim parts of Syria as their base of operations??

There are so many anti-Assad militant groups fighting in Syria I have a hard time believing anyone who says this particular group was the greatest threat in the region in 2012.

It's shocking to me that people are attacking Obama like ISIL has taken over half the ME.

Dubya ignored his PDBs that told him explicitly Al Qaeda was planning to attack the U.S. I believe by using planes(not sure if it went into that much detail), and Bush and his security team flat out ignored the warnings.

The only time Obama ever passes the buck is when Congress fails to pass legislation or delays confirming Presidential appointments.

(We've got Ebola in the U.S. but we don't have a Surgeon General. Hm. Oh, that's because Congress has refused to confirm anyone Obama has offered up for the position. Some things you give the POTUS because that's who he says he needs around him to do his job.
Blocking everyone and everything because Obama is for it is insane.)

He's only the POTUS, he can't be expected to do the job of Congress for them.


What Right wingers really want is to shame Obama into sending U.S. troops back to the ME so they can blame their failures in the region on his administration.

Conservatives believe they lost the WH twice because of their Iraqi misadventure and they hope by going back in they'll guarantee a Republican wins the Presidency.

I agree with all of you. but I would go further and say we don't need to panic over an ISIS beheading. Even if they were a threat, perpetuating violence in the mid-east isn't going to solve anything, and we can't afford it - can't afford the wreckage to American lives and families.

Here's some excerpts from a Bill Moyers interview with a vet named Matthew Hoh:

"Over 23 years, four consecutive presidents have ordered the bombing of Iraq by U.S. forces. It's the nightmare of Groundhog Day – facing the same problem, over and again.

we have spent $250 billion already just on interest payments on the debt we’ve incurred for the Iraq and Afghan wars. With a first round of drones and missiles unleashed inside Syria, America has plunged (again) into the midst of a civil war that involves over one thousand different militia. You need a mighty big scorecard just to figure who’s on whose side.

Because our priorities for decades have been on military first solutions, not on political solutions. We have, as Jonathan said, we’ve embraced dictatorships. Backing ourselves out of those relationships is very hard in a Washington, DC where the climate of politics overwhelms everything else.

and now we’re going to train them at a cost of $100,000 for one guy, it’s going to cost to train. $100,000 per person. And I think that strategy has been successful. We’re– that cost for these wars are already totaled at $6 trillion at our lifetime.

We have suffered casualties much greater than I think the American people understand. There is the 7,000 dead, the 50,000 wounded, but of the two and a half million veterans who served, including myself, a third of us suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, or some other type of mental health injury. We also have 250,000 veterans and service members who suffer from traumatic brain injuries.

So I don’t think people understand the level of violence that we were talking about in these conflicts. And I think by jumping back– let alone, again, the half million Iraqis killed, the tens and ten thousands of Afghan killed, the spillover effects with the war in Syria. So I think jumping back into these conflicts is a very tragic mistake. A very shortsighted mistake. And I think it plays right into the hands of groups like Islamic State that need sectarian tension. That’s why I think jumping in on one side of the conflict is– it makes the– exacerbates the problem.

So you see President Obama, and I’m reminded of an article you wrote, Bill, five years ago on Lyndon Johnson’s decision to escalate the Vietnam War and how Johnson at that point felt that there was no good was going to come out of that escalation, that there was no purpose in it. But how could he face down these senators if he didn’t stand up to– and I feel that President Obama has the same challenge. How does he not come across as being weak-willed or not tough on terror?
