Ron Paul Announces Retirement from Congress.​

It comes as a shock that a darling of the GOP, conservative-libertarian Ron Paul will retire from his position in Congress. Almost serving 24 years in Congress he continued to champion the ideas of limited government and individual freedoms. Throughout the years, he continued to build a strong following, which started in the 2008 election. Though he ran before as a Libertarian, his views on the Constitution remains consistent. His supporters feel that this move would allow him to focus more on becoming President of the United States.

As for his district, it's uncertain, but his many constituents will definitely miss him and hopes he hand pick a successor that matches his views.

Ah, the bieberillion is something I picked up from a feminist site. Generally used for things we don't like, such as Conservatives, idiots, etc. One can hate them with the intensity of a bieberillion fiery suns, for example.

 

Why do people dislike Ron Paul ?

He may not hold on to his seat in congress but he can run for mayor.

 

It's more like this...his political philosophy would certainly work in a perfect world. But in the real world, it's unlikely anything can happen and people can benefit from it universally. This is the problem with libertarians who are too blinded by their political views.

He could run for Mayor and that would be a good start to see how his philosophy could be put to the test. Ever since he was in Congress in the 70s, he was mainly a legislator. So, should he run for mayor, his political views will be put to the test since...quite frankly, a state or citywide election (Governor or Mayor) would be a testament to his views.

 

he was a go no where politician anyways. his time in the house, his inability to upgrade (yes i use that phrase), and his inability to seek higher office or even his current office as a member of the libertarian party actually hurt the libertarian causes. His movement and its party need strong independents like Ross Perot to come anywhere close to doing what Roosevelt did with the Progressive (Bull moose) Party in the early twentieth century..If their top names were not old and antiquated lightweights they might have the viability to put their theories into practice. Why havent they even produced a damn governor of all things?
