Y'all may remember that I first predicted that Barack would win the Democratic nomination for president. Now, I'm gonna make another prediction: Barack Obama will make history in Nov. and become the first African American president. He will beat McCain by a landslide. So far, I'm batting .500. I will qualify my prediction by writing that barring any unforseen catastrophe...Barack Obama will win the White House in Nov. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/06/the_democrats_reagan.html The Kid Rasta 8)
This is only the beginning. The election is still 5 months off. http://www.reuters.com/article/vcCandidateFeed1/idUSN1736113820080618 The Kid Rasta 8)
It won't be by a landslide but it will be a squeaker like JFK's win over Nixon in 1960. Hillbillies, rednecks, sour grapes women still crying over Hillary and the 25% of America who still supports Bush will def. vote McCain.
Umm, JFK's "win" was very, very controversial. In Illinois, Sam Giancana ordered more than 10,000 votes that were ineligible, such as those of dead people. In Texas, which was LBJ's home state, more than 100,000 Republican votes - which were of course Nixon's - were arbitrarily disqualified a la 2000. Thus, Nixon lost 51 electoral college votes, which would have put him over the top by one vote. I hardly call that a "win". Secondly, Hillary won the votes of 18,000,000 people. More than half of that number can easily swing the election McCain's way. If that happens, it won't be a squeaker. Whilst it won't be Reagan-style crushing, McCain would have it wrapped up easily.
If he keeps moving into a more centrist direction (call it Republican Light), hell yeah it will be a squeaker! Hopefully these open debates and town meetings with Nader/Gonzales and McSain while expose more of this "Change" that's he's worn out already. Thus far it he's not nearly as progressive as those on the far left desire him to be, myself included. If he truly believes anything he says in his speeches, he'll be more progressive than McCain and if that happens, he'll win it won't been be close. What Americans want is some of that HELP that has been spent on foreign policy the last 20 or so years. I don't care about tax cuts, if I get single payer health care. Promise to lessen our burden and he'll win easily.
Kid, between now and November 4 is an eternity in this election anything can happen to cut down Obama 15 point lead. Call me a pessimist, but there are still scared white folks who don't want to see a black man and his family move into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
This election will be like no other in the history of this country -- trust me. Barack will rearrange the mindset of America. It's manifest destiny. The Kid Rasta 8)
McCain!!?? I don't think so!!! Not unless Hillary's supporters like the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan; the strong possibility of a war with Iran; high gas & food prices; recession; losing abortion rights; offshore drilling; 45 new nuclear plants in US; among other things McCain is proposing. Voting for McCain is like voting for Bush 2. BTW, if they decide to sit out the election -- that's OK. Barack will have registered millions of new voters which will counter any who choose to sit out the election. The Kid Rasta 8)
Yes Nader/Gonzalez would make MUCH more sense but if I had a dime everytime somebody told me they wouldn't win, I'd have alot of money.... You have to keep it "Mainstream" but some of the messages can come out Progressive because we out number the conservatives this time around, save for hard core Repubs. In any event its Congress that sets and makes law, so changing Congress over to be more progressive and less Corporately motivated than the current Congress, which includes ousting Finestein and Pelosi as they have tabled Impeachment at a time when this country needs to rid itself of the threat to blow up Iran... Rumor has it that Cheney has said if McCain wins, he won't bomb Iran and leave it up to the next cabinet in charge, if Obama is leading the chances of us bombing Iran increase to about 75-80% We can't wait for that BS, Impeach them NOW, all of them. Impeachment and a Landside victory will ensue...
It's uniformed thinking like this that catches people offguard. First of all, you shouldn't make any predictions in politics because you ruin your credibility when they don't come to pass. You state: A.) Barack will win the presidency of the United States. B.) He'll win in a landslide. In order for you to not look like an ass on November 5th, both will have to come true. Good luck.
Just wait. It will happen. BTW, I correctly predicted that Barack would win the Democratic nomination for president more than a yr. ago...and everyone knows I was wrong about that. The Kid Rasta 8)
