http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...y-chiefs-player-commits-suicide-team-facility Jovan Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend in front of her mom, then went to the Stadium and killed himself in front of his coach and GM as the cops arrived. He leaves behind a 3 month old baby...both parents are now gone. Unbelievably, the game is still on tomorrow... He was 25.
Horrible. We'll probably never know the detailed circumstances behind these two senseless murders. I would like to talk as if I know why this happened, but I can't. This fucked up joke is already going around on one of the meathead football forums I visit.
His agent sad he was an incredible guy, very kind man, always reached out to underprivileged kids at events...his g/f family said they were an extremely loving couple, never signs of distress...they had a fight and this is the result. http://www.tmz.com/2012/12/01/jovan-belcher-kansas-city-chiefs-murder-suicide/
Andre, what they did on his scout sheet was pathetic. So many are badly hurting and they want to mock the tragedy...smh. It was practice time at the Arrowhead facility and his team mates were rolling up as this went down, too. Hi coach and GM were tried desperately to talk him out of shooting himself....they saw all of this. But the visiting Panthers were told right after by the NFL that their plane was still taking off on schedule and to go play the Chiefs.
I still think the game may end up being cancelled until later next week. I heard he shot himself in front of his head coach and general manager. How are they supposed to get players in the right frame of mind to compete less than 24 hours later???
He shot himself in the head. It's unlikely his brain would provide a viable specimen for research. And I don't think this was a case of repeated concussive syndrome. It sounds like dude had a heated argument with his girl and unfortunately had a gun too close by and he made a split second horrific decision. Just guessing, there's no way to know for certain.
In my opinion, it is unconscionable that they continue playing this game. I am told that the Chiefs captains voted to play as scheduled. I feel the decision should have been taken out of their hands by the league. Instead, the message is sent that the great pro football machine must continue, even 28 hours after this unspeakable tragedy. One interesting note. The moment of silence before the game, will not be for the player, but for the victims of domestic violence. And to be fair, pro football in particular and the big pro sports, in general, have come out big against domestic violence. If you are a pro player, and you hit your wife or g/f, you are going to sit down for a spell.
An update on the story. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...an-belcher-murder-suicide-152440857--nfl.html This is sickening.
SENSELESS!!Nothing in this world will make me want to kill myself..I will make du'a(prayer) for that child.Just senseless
OMG! Chills. A true, true tragedy...One decision took over him...Oh God that report was heartbreaking.
The media is pinging over that he was in another woman's apartment prior to killing his girlfriend. I wish these damned so-called reporters and journalists can be investigated themselves for moral standards. I'm sick of these double standard holy than thou bastards.
:smt017 You do realize THAT'S THEIR JOB? It's a fact that he was and it lead to the fatal argument. Also didn't see these 'immoral' reporters then go and murder the mother of their child and then kill themselves, in front of people who loved them no less.
Ms. Bliss. I will give this one to you. Perhaps I was too harsh in my criticism of the press. They (the press) have not distinguished themselves on reporting lately. What bothers me is the blatant bias that is so often thrown out here expecting us to accept whatever they want us to believe. In-depth reporting is dead. They have to understand we are not all blind lemmings out here. Take care Ms. Bliss.
Update: Family Feuds Over NFL Star Jovan Belcher's Million Dollar Baby This is just a terrible turn. Shared custody is the only fair deal. While I understand the maternal family's anger and distraught, it's not Belcher's mother's fault and she shouldn't be punished.
