the corporate overlords are really feeling their oats. They wrecked the economy, but were "too big to fail" so they're still living well and making record profits They defanged health care reform by telling the stupids that the gubmint is going to kill grandma. (If they can win with stuff that weak, they can do anything) They resisted a tax hike year after year even though most americans agreed that the rich should pay a tax hike, and when the tax hike came, the deal was so diluted it was little more than a gesture They're feeling their oats. They're feeling impunity. They're fucking their secretaries (who are "material girls" themselves) bent over the desk, and making money hand over fist. And they don't have reason to worry about any backlash because with today's sophisticated and subtle media having all the "average joe" minds on lockdown, they can get away with anything Even "occupy wall street" was a joke because it was too sackless to actually take any clear-cut stance on anything. The left (yesteryear's "center") is wishy washy, easily divided and suffering a crisis of confidence. The right is roaring and feeling its oats in spite of obama being in the white house And I got news for you: the economic "recovery" will present an unrecognizable economic landscape for the "middle class" (ie. the white collar working class) than it was before the meltdown. Middle class jobs are disappearing. And of course it will be an entirely different landscape for black folks, what with the backlash to the obama presidency we're going to see. "Who you know" is going to be more important than ever
I love how they put that "Now Hiring Day Shifts" on the marquee, like they're announcing their cattle call. I can just imagine a manager standing outside ringing a dinner bell yelling "Come and get it!!"
Where are dudes like Wilson and Paniro to tell us workers have no rights and should keep our mouths shit since we have no capital and are lucky that employers bestow us with jobs out of the kindness of their hearts lol. I do love seeing people organize and standup against this tyranny. A person should be able to make ends meet at one job not three and the more money private citizens have the more they spend and the better it is for ALL not just a select few. I will say this though, if they do get what they are demanding they better become model employees. Act like they want to be there because one thing I notice about fast food service is everyone looks like they want to die and I hope that's in relation to the pay and not the job. We need to stop stigmatizing people based on what they do for a living. It serves no one.
I was reading this article and thought you would appreciate it. Reminds me of the regular progressive/conservative debates we have here at the forum all the time. Check it out: http://www.chaunceydevega.com/2013/08/don-lemon-is-gay-black-man-who-wants-to.html To your comment about fast food workers, I agree 100%. They deserve much better, but they should also perform their jobs with diligence, and yes, anyone who makes an honest living at a socially useful function, regardless of compensation level, deserves the entire society's respect and support.
Good article, makes me wonder if these people truly believe what they're sahing about the black community kr is.it.for.show on some level.
Right. They could be doing the Armstrong Williams "I'm just gettin' paid" thing, selling to the highest bidder.
I have a feeling the world is in a rebellious mood. You had the arab spring, then you had those cheesy middle class privileged fools protesting in brazil (which petered out), but I just get the feeling that people are getting fed up with impunity on the part of their overlords, no matter who they might be. here in the U.S., the "american dream" is looking kinda tattered. And then ppl watched the bankers get bailed out and continue to live large in spite of wrecking the economy. Then they watched congress do what it did over the past decade to obstruct anything that might help working people. And watched all the unions die or be neutered. People are stupid, but they ain't brain-dead ..So they might be in a surly mood, ready to show "signs of life," like you're seeing in the vids above. (Quick, cue the racial tension, for distraction and division :mrgreen
